Chinese COMAC ARJ-21 based at Windsor for next two months .

Post by bizjets101 »

Story from Windsor Star ... Click Here.

Using Windsor International Airport as its flight hub over the next two months, the Commercial Aircraft of China Corporation is undertaking tests of its Made-in-China ARJ21 passenger jet, a 78- to 90-seat aircraft expected to enter service in 2015.

With its orange highlights and distinctive Chinese lettering on a white fuselage, the twin-engined jet arrived Friday and has been flying in and out of Windsor using leased tarmac space and servicing adjacent to the western hangars at the airport. An international crew of 70 aviation and engineering specialists are helping put the ARJ21 Xiangfeng (‘Soaring Phoenix’) through its paces.

It's no coincidence that it looks like a DC-9.

Those things ALL look like DC-9s to me. What makes you imply that this one in particular has anything to do with a DC-9?

Is it just me or does that picture look like some of it's been photoshopped? The tail section looks wrong with the coloration of the paint.

It was built using the MD-80 jigs. The wings are designed by Ukraine's Antanov.

China built 35 MD-80's then switched to MD-90's but Boeing bought MD and shut down the Chinese
MD-90 line with two aircraft that were on the line, but never completed.

Looks like a B 717 to me. I hope Boeing can sue their A** before it even gets started. Or do you wait like Apple and sue later and take all the profits after it is successful?

Well, I hope their build quality is about 1000 times better than the stuff you can buy at Canadian Tyre or Walmart

Plastic aeroplanes from Boeing and Airbus, and now this....it's beginning to get difficult to decide to fly anywhere!

Yeah, so they can rip off truck and car designs from motor city. But in all seriousness, just seems random to chose Windsor.
