what acts as CoR when title transferred
When buying or selling a private A/C. The back of the CoR has to be filled out and mail to TC. Along with some money I assume. What will act as a CoR while the paper is in process?
Re: what acts as CoR when title transferred
See Cars 202.35. Basically you fill out the post card and send it in ASAP to TC, you have seven days to notify them, and there is a change of ownership form that serves as a temporary C of R up to 90 days until transport issues you the new C of R.
Re: what acts as CoR when title transferred
I have the post card, its been sent. But on the back of the CoR there is an application for registration of Aircraft. I thought it had to be sent as well with a payment 110$ (I think). Once I send this in, there will be no CoR.
Re: what acts as CoR when title transferred
Cap your CofR should be 3 pieces of paper.
1. The tan CofR with the application for a new CofR on the reverse side.
2. The white Interim CofR.
3. The blank transfer card.
The previous owner fills in 3 and sends it in. The new owner fills in the back of 1 and sends it in with a cheque, and fills in 2 and keeps it until the new CofR arrives.
If 2 has gone missing, you'd best get on the phone with TC as you have no way to keep flying once the application for a new CofR is filled out on the reverse side of 1.

Will a photo copy of the old CoR work?

Cap41:
By sending the ''post card'' even with a missing piece of information, you have officially notified TC of the change of registration and therefore you have completed what they call ''due diligence''. TC expects to be notified. They have.
You could also look at the option of a quick check with the local TC licensing clerk(s) assigned to a/c registrations and they will fax or email any documents that are missing and that should be submitted with your application.
On the lighter side, there should be no worry about being "ramped" by TC for document checks. I haven't heard anyone being checked for a long time! But I could be wrong...!!

From the transport canada website (Note the last paragraph):
https://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/ ... er-409.htmInterim Certificate of Registration
Activation
Once registration and application requirements have been met, you can activate the Interim Certificate of Registration on the Certificate of Registration obtained from the last registered owner. This allows you to operate the aircraft while waiting for the new Certificate of Registration.
To activate the Interim Certificate of Registration, you must:
complete the name, address and date of transfer of custody and control portion of the Interim Certificate of Registration;
retain the Interim Certificate of Registration on board the aircraft.
Validity Period
The Interim Certificate of Registration is valid until:
the last day of the three month period following the sale of the aircraft by the last registered owner;
the day on which there is a further transfer of custody and control;
the day on which the continuing Certificate of Registration is received.
Note: If you have an earlier version of the Certificate of Registration which does not have the Interim Certificate of Registration application, you cannot activate an Interim Certificate of Registration for re-registration purposes. You must have the aircraft registered in your name and have received your new Certificate of Registration or a temporary Certificate of Registration prior to operating the aircraft.

Re: what acts as CoR when title transferred
one is missing a few things ,
tc will not issue a new c of r UNTIL
proof of insurance
proof of ownership if company including incorporation documents / partnership
proof of title or lien holder .
so best to have those doc's and your ducks lined up first .

Re: what acts as CoR when title transferred
That's strange oldncold. When I registered my aircraft it had no insurance and yet the CofR showed up. Nor is there anything in the regulations requiring an aircraft to be insured to be registered. Nor is there a requirement for an aircraft to be insured in order to fly it.
They did ask to see the bill of sale though.

Tc will get picture of data plate, bill of sale, application for CoR.

Correct, no insurance needed...HOWEVER...better fill all the requirements on the TC form 26-0478
aaaand the FFFF fit for flight form.
https://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/ ... er-409.htm
Took 6 months to get my C of R back...a "T" was not crossed...oops a dot was missing...etc...
example: weight kg or pounds? Gross wing area? a digit of the serial number was wrong...aaarg! there was no end to it!
Meanwhile the Temp C of R will do...
