Journey lob entries into the aircraft tech log (entry times?

Post by tractor747 »

quick question,

as an example on March 1 I log two training flights one is 1.0 and the other 2.0 in the journey log book regarding company training. In the aircraft tech log can I write under the date column March 2 (my mechanic wasn't available on March 1) logged 2.5 hours minus the 0.5 flight time or do I have to do the entry the same date of the two training flights?

thanks

Tractor747,

Am I missing something here? Why are you writing your journey log flight times in a tech log?

Did you end up purchasing a 702/703 business as you have been asking about for quite some time now?

Used to be, under the ANO, that flights were entered into the technical logs as well as the journey log. Hasn't been required since 1996(?) but some people still do it, I'm told.

This is the requirement for tech log entries:

http://www.tc.gc.ca/civilaviation/regse ... a60502.htm

Only the hours when maintenance was performed:

Total air time and, where applicable, the number of operating cycles or landings since date of manufacture, at the time of each abnormal occurrence or maintenance action recorded pursuant to item 3 or 4

hi guys,

trying to locate the Transport Canada info page on their site regarding the laws of the aircraft journey log and tech log book and how long they should be held on for and where. I know if you start a new journey log you must put the last two entries but I'm trying to find the law regarding these two logs and the legalities.

thanks

Just phone them. They are nothing to be afraid of and are typically pretty helpful over the phone. Did you purchase a float business?

It's good to have as many tech logs as possible come time to sell. Full disclosure, unless you want to hide something. Then I suppose you might want to dispose of the logs that contain what ever nasty thing you hopefully had repaired properly.

You never dispose of a technical log
as per CAR 625.96(1).

An airplane without continuous tech
logs since new drops $$$ in value.

Journey log is CAR 605.94(3)

You don't have to keep old Journey
Logs, but you would have to be pretty
tight on space to justify throwing one
out.
