Perimeter double oil problem

A Perimeter Aviation de Havilland Dash 8-100, registration C-GWPS performing flight 4B-107 from Winnipeg,MB to Island Lake,MB (Canada) with 10 people on board, was enroute at FL250 about 170nm northnortheast of Winnipeg when the crew noticed a low oil pressure warning for the right hand engine (PW120) shortly followed by indication of a complete loss of oil pressure on that engine. The crew shut the engine down, turned around to divert to Winnipeg and had the aircraft drift down to 18,000 feet on the way back. While descending through FL210 the crew noticed anomalies in the oil pressure indication for the left hand engine as well, cabin crew reported there was a steady stream of oil visible on the cowling of the left hand engine. A pilot went to visually check the engine and confirmed a substantial oil leak. Being about 50nm southeast of Berens River,MB (Canada) at that time the crew decided to divert to Berens River for an immediate landing. The crew kept the aircraft high and managed a safe landing on Berens River runway 09. The aircraft slowed safely and was about to turn around at the bay at the end of the runway to backtrack and vacate the runway when the aircraft became stuck.

The Canadian TSB reported that the occupants disembarked onto the runway, the runway needed to be closed until the aircraft could be towed off the runway. Maintenance found the right hand engine oil cooler had failed and the left hand engine propeller control unit leaked oil.

At first glance, it Seems like a couple of pretty good decisions by the crew.

Wow..................if they'd of shut the other one down and put her into lake Winnipeg the crew could have been on the field at next years Gray Cup national anthem.

Still plenty of ice up in Berens just boink it on the lake, but in all seriousness good job by the crew.

The Perimeter Aviation de Havilland DHC-8-102 (C-GWPS) Flt PAG107 was level in cruise at 25000 feet en route from Winnipeg (CYWG) to Island Lake (CYIV) MB. The crew noted the illumination of the low oil pressure annunciator followed by an indication of a loss of oil pressure on the # 2 engine (Pratt & Whitney Canada PW120A). Checklist items were carried out and the crew shut down the #2 engine. The crew requested a diversion back to Winnipeg and began a slow descent to 18000 feet at ATC request. While descending through 21000 feet the crew noted the oil pressure on the remaining engine (#1) was rising. The cabin crew member reported to the cockpit that there was an oil leak on the #1 engine with a steady flow visible on the cowling. A flight crew member inspected and confirmed a substantial leak from the operating engine. The crew elected to divert to Berens River (CYBV) and advised ATC of the situation. The crew completed the Emergency Landing Checklist with the cabin crew member and made an announcement to the passengers. The aircraft remained high on approach and landed normally on runway 09. While turning around in the runway bay the aircraft became stuck. The crew de-planed the passengers on the runway. The runway remained closed until the aircraft could be removed. Initial maintenance inspection by revealed an #2 engine oil cooler failure an #1 engine propeller control unit oil leak.
