Re: 2014 Float Season
It will pay off in the long run. Even calling the operator and asking what their hiring situation is. Be persistent but don't annoy them. Highlight your abilities to think for yourself, work with your hands and know how to use a chainsaw. Hell, if I can end up working with a guy on the dock who was an aviation nut, has only ever been a cart boy, and had no clue how to light a BBQ; there is hope for anyone.
I was fortunate to get an opening back in October for the 2014 season.

Re: 2014 Float Season
It was unexpected, but I received 1.5 job offers within a week on my second round of resumes. I took a dock position out in Northwest Ontario. I really appreciate all the advice offered on so many threads in this forum - it has helped me tune my expectations appropriately and should (hopefully) lead to a successful summer. I'm looking forward to working hard and breaking into the industry!
Maybe one day I'll be able to contribute to the forum once I get some hours under my belt. Until then, I'll keep quiet and listen
Cheers

Re: 2014 Float Season
Congrats dude. Hopefully they have a Cessna and you'll get some flying later in the season?
Re: 2014 Float Season
How has everyone made out? I didn't have any bites and dialed up a few places and ended up getting a couple of offers that way and landed a gig via a road trip from a face to face, but I hear there is still a place or two scrambling for a 185 driver. There's still hope!
Re: 2014 Float Season
I got an email from Excellent Adventures in Red Lake yesterday, they need a Cessna pilot. I already have my spot for the season but I thought I'd pass it along.
