Logbook question
Hello all
I am sure this has been discussed here before at great length. I could not find any recent post.
I am about to fill my first logbook and am trying to decide what to get next. I am liking the look of the Jepp. Professional log book as it seems to be versatile as to SIC command in both single and Multi where as the others do not. I was also thinking of an electronic logbook and looking for people's opinions on them and which ones to look at. I am looking to peruse flying as a career and want something that works at all levels as I am flying skydivers now and who knows what is next.
Thanks

Re: Logbook question
Make yourself a spreadsheet and log your time on that. If in the future you need a single engine SIC column, you just add it.

Re: Logbook question
How does transport look at that when applying for an ATPL
Re: Logbook question
They don't mind, provided you have all the relative hours and such. People these days seem to think you must fire off your logbook for months to be checked. Just print out your logbook pages, sign them and off you go.
In that regards what are the offices to do ATPL applications the fastest these days? Winnipeg, Hamilton?

Re: Logbook question
That's exactly what I did. Printed out my spreadsheet, stapled it together and handed it in, no questions asked.Oxi wrote:They don't mind, provided you have all the relative hours and such. Never got it back though, I guess they weren't interested in returning my logbook

They were running 'way behind on processingwhat are the offices to do ATPL applications the fastest these days? Winnipeg
paperwork recently. Pick another.
Maybe they've gotten a lot faster this summer
with everyone on vacation, but I wouldn't bet
on it.
Re: Logbook question
As soon as I got a cpl I immediately sprung for logbook pro. It's essentially just a glorified spreadsheet, but with a ton of options, and no adding mistakes
Well worth it.

Re: Logbook question
With logbook pro can you have it on a PC and then access it on an iPad or iPhone?
What did you just print a report for transport canada?

Re: Logbook question
It only works with your apple products iPad, iPhone, or Macs. With logbook pro can you have it on a PC and then access it on an iPad or iPhone?
You can export into and out of it but that would not work well as a daily practice.
It will generate reports for printing or logbook pages if you prefer or need.
Far more printing options and flexibility with mac versions

Re: Logbook question
Another option might be to use google docs, which works on all devices and lets you import/export as excel.

I'm glad to hear that you'll still beI have a Nokia 920
using it in 30 years.
The good thing about hardware and
software is that it is never EOL'd.

The fact that I knew what that was, just made me feel old.Colonel Sanders wrote:Will it run on my Wang word processor?

Re: Logbook question
Don't tell me this is going to degenerate into another "whose Wang is bigger" discussion...
Re: Logbook question
I applied for an INRAT and type rating in early April and still haven't heard a thing. I tried to check on it 2 weeks ago and haven't gotten a reply yet. So I'm going to say no.Colonel Sanders wrote:They were running 'way behind on processingwhat are the offices to do ATPL applications the fastest these days? Winnipeg
