I think Mitch is a great name for a pilot. Sounds
solid, reliable, unflappable. All qualities you want
in a MIFR instructor pilot. In fact, there is a local
pilot named Pete that I insist on calling Mitch (really).
He's a solid, reliable unflappable young pilot, that
can't help that he had the wrong name hung on
him at birth.

Butch is not the greatest name for a pilot. Has
connotations of being ham-fisted and occasionally
outright brutal with the aircraft. Nasty drunk,
and somewhat prone to date-rape and nosewheel
shimmy.

Probably.

If I wanted to get an instrument rating in Toronto,
I would look up Photofly. He's an instructor, but
he owns a 182 that he flies IFR.

Across the North Atlantic.

I really doubt there are many flight instructors in
Toronto with that experience

I have an expired Class 3 flight instructor rating and currently fly as Captain on a medium category turboprop out of Winnipeg with a decent amount of IMC experience.

Thanks EH, I appreciate that, it was a bit of a rhetorical comment....as any actual IMC isn't required to teach Ifr, which I find interesting. I'm ridiculously low time with perhaps 50 hrs actual IMC conditions in the 3 years I've had my rating....but is it any wonder GA incidents in Ifr conditions...are so often fatal?
