How hard the the radio exam?

Post by love2fly14 »

Hi Members, I have the radio exam booked for next week, when it comes to exams I tend to panic a little :!: :!:
I'm not sure what to expect ?

I have been trying to find some information or sample on this, but nothing so far.
Can someone tell me a little bit more on this, what to expect, how long is the exam....

I have been reading the VFR Radio Procedures in Canada, is this book a good guide to pass that exam?

thank's

It probably is the hardest exam of Flight Training.

Read this twice. Once this week and one more time the day before your exam and there's no way that you will 'fail' the exam. If that's even possible...
I'm pretty sure your provincial driver's licence application form has more complicated questions on it than the ROC exam.

Why do people feel that the hardest thing about flying is talking on the radio? Hint: if you feel that your worst problem is how you talk on the radio, you're probably wrong. Though its funny that you think that. :|

I'm don't think the radio is the hardest, but still an exam that must be done. Since I never did it, not sure what to expect and the goal is to get it right the 1 time.

It's going to be an easy one. Don't waste time worrying about it. I don't really remember it exactly but I know it was a quick one that I wrote within less than 15 minutes just prior to writing the PSTAR. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think there are 25 questions on there at most. I see the ROC exam more of a step of 'necessary paperwork to satisfy the bureaucrats' than an actual exam/test.

I see, plus it is costing me 25$ for the exam and I have to drive 1:15 Minutes, total 2:30 to do this.

Multiple choice, fairly easy in my opinion. I wrote it early in the year.

WTF? I have never heard of anyone charging for that exam. No school that I have been part of student/instructor has ever charged for that.

They're probably not charging you to write the exam but (hopefully) for the application process that they're taking care of for you. Either way, it's debatable if a school that you've been and will be spending a good amount of money at should charge for a simple job like that at all.

Shop around. Phone Industry Canada and ask where the nearest places are. Where are you located?

I was once told that those authorized to administer the exam are prohibited from charging a fee? Is this true?

Dude,

If you want to succeed in aviation, you'll need to start helping yourself and learn to find stuff on your own. Try searching oh, I don't know, restricted radio operator's certificate on Google.

Hint: the first result is what you are looking for.

It is illegal to charge money to take the exam.

Find anyone else using the link below to do it for you.

I used to hold approval to do the lot,
Air, Marine and Amateur Radio licenses,
I declined all offers of payment and never charged to do an exam.

Now I'm getting those approvals back and have no intention of ever
charging to do those particular exams.
