Hello everyone,
I would like to have your helps and advises regrading the conversion of my SACAA CPL license to TC ATPL.
I'm a holder of South African CAA CPL and currently flying abroad on ATR72.
My flight experience is around: 3000hrs on Total Time
2800hrs ATR72 (2300hrs SIC + 500hrs PICUS)
100hrs PIC
I wish to have TC ATPL license, do I need to have my SACAA ATPL for the conversion or I can apply for TC ATPL right now? I couldn't find the regulations in the TC webpage!!!!
I would be appreciate it if you guys could help.
Cheers

EDIT: Requirements are here: http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/r ... 1-1086.htm
It does appear you could go directly to ATPL written/flight tests, as you meet the training required for the TC CPL on the basis of your foreign licence. This is a bit beyond the normal CPL conversion then ATPL upgrade or CPL upgrade then ATPL conversion, so you may end up having to fully and persistently explain how this meets the standards to TC. Also have iron clad documentation and have your foreign licence verification paperwork in order.
While I'm not an expert here, my understanding is that it is usually simpler to covert ATPL->ATPL licences than it is to convert CPL->CPL licences or anything else to ATPL, as ATPL licences are a bit more uniform between countries.

With your time and experience
odds are you might find a job rather quickly so that
I'll run through the substantive ones.
First, make sure you have a certified Log Book.
Your time is recognized, the experience will be checked off.
Your initial medical will require the lot including Xrays which means
your first medical in Canada will cost you.
The most difficult and essential exam you will write will be the Inrat.
Do the online course at Harv's online or dauntless. Both are excellent.
You may be able to do your PPC Pilot Proficiency Check, type rating
and your IFR ride at the same time, paid for by your employer.
Practice on a SIM that you have access to.
If you do the ATPL exam then you are done.
The rest is relatively easy.
If you dont have a PPC, then choose one of
the productive places that are famous for getting
things done promptly.
If you told to wait a few weeks for someone for you to book
with, they are too busy for your purposes..
