Re: ISIS Killers
Anything to put those bastards in the past tense. Nice to see Saudi Arabia putting their foot in the fight too albeit a very timid and tiny one. They and every other moderate (meaning non-extremist) Muslim state should be going all out to exterminate that particular movement and every one like it beginning with their ability to indoctrinate and recruit.

Re: ISIS Killers
Saudi Arabia is the moderate, non-extremist state that the Americans are selling weapons to? I thought it was these heavily armed Sunni Muslims that are the problem? So why is Canada and the USA giving (or selling) weapons to the Sunni armies in Saudi, Lebanon, Peshmerga, etc?
And just to clarify, these "bastards" are the same good guys Obama wanted to support only one year ago by bombing Assad's forces, who are now the good guys. But not really the good guys.

Re: ISIS Killers
Lebanon is half Catholic Maronite, half muslim.
They have hard time sharing the power in the country.
In past years they were also controlled mainly by Syrian secret services, don't know how it has been lately with Syrian civil war.
It is the first time I hear of a Lebanese air force.
Seriously, are they going to use caravans to bomb half of Beirut in order to eradicate Hezbollah?
Israel is having hard time to kill Hezbollah leaders in south Lebanon with their F18, by the way they come in Lebanon has they wish, don't know what they will do with Caravans... All surrounding countries have jet fighters.

Re: ISIS Killers
Lebanon had a fairly decent air force in the 1950's up to the 60's. My dad was a member for many years. It was mostly destroyed or scattered among warring factions who defected with aircraft as the nation and army split among warring religious factions.timel wrote:It is the first time I hear of a Lebanese air force.
Theres actually a lot more division than that. Christians are divided among Catholics and Orthodox. Muslims among Shia and Sunni. There are also about 5-10% Druze who are neither Christian nor Muslim. No two seem to make allies for very long with the other.timel wrote:Lebanon is half Catholic Maronite, half muslim.
Hezbollah are the biggest enemies of ISIS, theyre kinda the good guys, but no one really wants to admit that.timel wrote:Seriously, are they going to use caravans to bomb half of Beirut in order to eradicate Hezbollah?
Israel doesnt have F18's. F15's, and F16's. I spent a good portion of the 80's and 90's in South Lebanon, the time leading up to the liberation. Hardly a day went by without being bombed or shelled.timel wrote:Israel is having hard time to kill Hezbollah leaders in south Lebanon with their F18

Interesting, actually I remember of a few choppers but no planes.Lebanon had a fairly decent air force in the 1950's up to the 60's. My dad was a member for many years. It was mostly destroyed or scattered among warring factions who defected with aircraft as the nation and army split among warring religious factions.
I have to confess I was an expat in Lebanon in 1998-2002, but in early teenage. I remember seeing a few helicopters now.
It is quite a religious mess, people have to be careful no to fall under CNN "experts".Theres actually a lot more division than that. Christians are divided among Catholics and Orthodox. Muslims among Shia and Sunni. There are also about 5-10% Druze who are neither Christian nor Muslim. No two seem to make allies for very long with the other.
The Lebanese civil war made it all very complicate from what I can remember. There are no blacks and whites. And when it gets messy in middle east, everyone comes and drop bombs in Lebanon.
I did not know about ISIS, I checked a bit, they seem to have gained power in Syria from what I understand, thanks to those countries who helped arming those factions to fight Assad, they created a new problem. ISIS is Sunni and Hezbollah Chiite, it says it all actually.Hezbollah are the biggest enemies of ISIS, theyre kinda the good guys, but no one really wants to admit that.

I stand corrected, actually people were always saying at school, when we had airplanes passing the sound barrier or the few bombing of electrical power station, that it was Israeli's F18.Israel doesnt have F18's. F15's, and F16's. I spent a good portion of the 80's and 90's in South Lebanon, the time leading up to the liberation. Hardly a day went by without being bombed or shelled.

Re: ISIS Killers
Most the helicopters at that time were owned by businessmen flying between Tripoli and Beirut. The Lebanese air force had a large fleet of Hawker Hunters and Mirages, and a good helicopter fleet, but never was able to develop a good radar coverage or missile defence. Currently they have a large helicopter fleet, and used some ingenuity to use them as bombers during the Nahr el-Bard campaign a few years ago.timel wrote:Interesting, actually I remember of a few choppers but no planes.

And ethnic and political plus the foreign powers who know how to use us against each other. Most of the worst crimes committed by Syrians and Israelis were actually committed by other Lebanese on their behalf.timel wrote:It is quite a religious mess
Where were you? Zahle or Beirut Im guessing? Lucky for us we never really were connected to any of the national grids, we had to come up with our own electricity.timel wrote:I stand corrected, actually people were always saying at school, when we had airplanes passing the sound barrier or the few bombing of electrical power station, that it was Israeli's F18.

Yes pretty sad how many foreign countries have been using Lebanon to advance their political agenda.azimuthaviation wrote:

Haha, yeah, constantly fighting with the electricity. Those were the days. There were two unseen entities that seemed to occupy the worries of every Lebanese male at that time, the kahrabah and the mukhabarat.timel wrote:Yes Beirut, I used to crank that fuel generator, pretty much everyday actually
I was in Beirut a bit at that time. Everywhere you went was demolition and construction, trucks, cranes, heavy equipment. Traffic moved at a snails pace from dawn to dusk. It was nice to get out of the city and into the peace and quiet of the war in the south.
Re: ISIS Killers
At that time, there was many protest from Lebanese students against Syrian intrusion into Lebanese politics (Emile Lahoud = the pupet), those same student were beaten up by Lebanese aka Syrian secret services.azimuthaviation wrote: Haha, yeah, constantly fighting with the electricity. Building full of bullet holes, highways designed for three lanes ending up with five lanes.I was in Beirut a bit at that time. I have many good friends and hope to get back some days, to go South Leb as well

But back on topic, I think it is the responsibility of European or north American countries who armed ISIS, to correct their actions, and not give more weapons to compensate a problem they created.

Well you have one more now. Let me know if you do come down, might catch me down there.timel wrote:I have many good friends and hope to get back some days, to go South Leb as well
ISIS was created on the Americans watch. They were originally called the awakening councils and were created to fight the Iraqi partisans who were ruining America's picnic in Iraq. It was no accident. They knew exactly what these people are capable of and how they act when they have weapons. I hear so many times that "there are no such thing as moderate Muslims." Ok, suppose thats true. Then why are you buying them a Hellfire equipped Caravan?? Why are you arming and training 4000 Kurdish Muslims in Northern Iraq? Why is Canada using yours and mine tax dollars to arm and equip Muslims in the PKK (a designated terrorist group, also Muslim)?timel wrote:But back on topic,
Also, why did the US begin bombing ISIS in the first place? To defend Iraqis? To defend the Iraqi regime? Why do they care if Iraq is overrun by ISIS? Are they supposed to be worse than any of the other regimes in the Middle East? They cant be as bad as Saddam? Right?
Yes. In Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, you will be just fine if you keep your mouth shut. Those regimes were tolerable. Now women are being sold into slavery, people are being executed and decapitated en masse, Saddam never forced Christians to convert or die. Its ironic that the Churches in Mosul were packed throughout 1400 years of Muslim rule but did not survive ten years after George Bush "liberated" them.timel wrote: those same student were beaten up by Lebanese aka Syrian secret services.
Sad that the Americans hate the Iraqis more than they care about their own coreligionists. But hey, Lebanon got a new killer Cessna!!According to Patriarch Louis Sako, there are no Christians remaining in Mosul for the first time in the nation's history

Re: ISIS Killers
I'm wondering what the middle east would be like today if the americans had just left well alone -- leave all those bad guys in power - after all - even though we don't like their methods there was a certain stability and obviously it seems the only thing that keeps it that way is an iron fist a shit load of ak's and fear - america lead the charge and lanced the boil and it exploded all over the world -- I'm just saying -- I don't like it but can't help but wonder --

100% agree with Azimuthaviation.
The day Americans will truly want better for other nations, they will get in North Korea and put Kim Jong-un behind bars.
Love the video, I remember when Assad's father died in 1998-1999, people were cutting themselves with knifes, I even think one publicly self immolated himself to show his sadness. He was no sweat dictator, he was quite feared actually. The son, the computer guy has a soft image, but was raised by the devil, he is no angel either.
But again, you have ISIL on one side, their religious fanatic agenda and dictatorship on the other hand that keeps all this religious groups straight.
The balance with dictators fighting American political and economical intrusion versus religious groups trying to take over is getting more and more fragile.
Remember the Shaa of Iran, the white revolution initiated in 1963?
An attempt to liberalize women, create a more liberal economy, make it all more American.
Failed miserably.

Re: ISIS Killers
For sure Saudi Arabia is different than North America, during the three times i stayed in Jeddah the only public entertainment we had was watching the beheadings at the Mosque down the street from our hotel every Tuesday and Friday morning at 10 AM.
You can't get that kind of entertainment in North America.

Actually, the Awakening Councils sprang up to fight Al Qaeda in Iraq(what you seem to call partisans). America supported them obviously.azimuthaviation wrote: ISIS was created on the Americans watch. Re: ISIS Killers
This thread was about the Caravan, right?
Good choice. I heard they partnered up with Fedex to guarantee delivery.
They are a practical choice from many aspects. A bit pricey though for a 208.
Maybe some overseas opportunity for Canadian pilots.

The really important question for the readers on this site is how much is the bond for this Van ?
Are standard PPC's transferable ?
If they really wanted to stomp out this latest whack a mole/gopher outbreak of heathen heretics they would drop copies of Thomas Aquinas Summa Theologica in Arabic .
It will blow their minds

Let me try again in my opinion of Saudi Arabia, my experince with their culture during my times living under said culture is I found it to be barbaric and quite frightening.Says a lot about someone that they'd consider that 'entertainment'...
Considering there was no public entertainment such as theaters or sports etc, they did however have public beheadings.
To make it even more depressing their treatment of women is beyond comprehension.
There does that make it a little easier for you to understand what I was attempting to say?
