I'm assuming it's almost entirely on call work, or maybe a few days notice for some flights. Even though they only say 1500 hours, this sounds like a cushy job that would get mucho resumes, sending the hours required to be hired way up...

70-80k, (this is regardless of seat) is a respectable wage, particularly for a PC-12. I have been assure that one will make more then the posted wage. If you want to be paid as a constable, go apply to the OPP for an Officer position. That being said, entry level OPP don't even make this kind of cash.

On the upside, your job as a pilot generally won't require that you carry a sidearm and wear a vest because you may have to face or use lethal force on a moment's notice, pull bodies out of wrecks/lakes/buildings/dumpsters, attend autopsies to preserve the evidentiary chain of custody, or manage the ongoing stress of dealing with people at their absolute worst day after day, frequently with lots of second-guessing and little appreciation (other than a paycheque) to show for it.

So there's that.

Agree as well, however the OPD pilots I saw always had a sidearm and usually a vest too I think. But (BIG but) they were OPP officers first and pilots second. So a direct pilot hire would be unlikely to carry the heat, but maybe they would get firearms training because of the pax they transport?

Could it be less people are using proper phraseology in terms of call signs because they are an Anachronism. A tool of a bygone era where radios, speakers and microphones were of poor quality so as to require the need to clearly identify oneself. Whereas the clarity on radio communications today is not an issue... For the most part, (HF comms. can be difficult at times)
Now that's not to say I agree with poor radio phraseology. There is a certain pride of professionalism from speaking clearly and concisely on the radio which becomes even more important while operating in foreign countries.
