Question.... Pilottrainning.ca
Looking for people that did their ppl with Pilottrainning.ca
I just finished the 1 chapter Airframes, Engines, and Systems + all the Quiz, and this weekend I will be doing the topic quiz
First topic quiz, so I'm a little worried and not sure what to expect.
1.How many questions?
2.Average time?
3.What appends if I fail?
I know the first score is the one that they take.
Any help on this will be great.
Thanks in advance...

Re: Question.... Pilottrainning.ca
Don't fail. You are not timed on those quizzes so take your time and review the material. I have Done their CPL course and it was a great resource. Final exams are timed so you got to get it right.

If you fail, you are forced to listen to the intro music on repeat for 3 hours
Re: Question.... Pilottrainning.ca
It's all outlined for you on the website on how to be successful. If you read the suggested material, read or watch the videos on the topics, you should do fine. If you fail, you can always redo the subject tests, but the first mark you get will be the one that counts, even if your second time around you nail it at 100%.
Re: Question.... Pilottrainning.ca
If you read the material and watched the videos you shouldn't have any problem. There won't be anything you haven't already seen. Take your time.

Re: Question.... Pilottrainning.ca
Is this course a good idea to take on my own or will my instructor point me in the direction
Re: Question.... Pilottrainning.ca
Generally, flight instructors will try and get their students to go to a ground school course put on by the FTU. But, it is up to you as a student to figure out which option will work best for you.
Some people have a hard time with self-directed learning, which makes the classroom environment more conducive to learning, and vice versa.

Re: Question.... Pilottrainning.ca
any benefit from doing both? Both are sufficient for the guidelines? An online course would work with my schedule nicely however I would like to take the schools ground school course as well the next time they begin it. Would this just be wasting money or beneficial7ECA wrote:Generally, flight instructors will try and get their students to go to a ground school course put on by the FTU. Re: Question.... Pilottrainning.ca
You are the one who needs to decide which direction to take.
Doing both would more than likely be overkill, and they cost money, so odds are you don't want to spend extra. I did my PPL ground school at the FTU, and then my CPL with Pilottraining.ca, both were good. At the time it was just more convenient for me to do the CPL online, because I could work through it faster than going to the school twice a week for 40 weeks...
But, the downside of an online course, is if you cannot commit to self-directed learning, you will not get very far, and then it is a waste of money. If you need someone to hold your hand, and direct you to do the work, etc, go to the FTU class.

Re: Question.... Pilottrainning.ca
Pilottraining.ca is great! If you don't mind studying on your own.
I decided to use pilottraining.ca for both the PPL and CPL.
I find there is a ton of information included with the PPL
Course that you don't get through a local FTU. You can
review actual training flights which can help drill certain
subjects into your head. Also, since all the classes being
taught are a lecture that has been video taped if you have
trouble understanding a certain point you can just scroll
back and listen to Aaron explain it again.
Pilottraining.ca is great for PPL and CPL, but I can't vouch
for any of their other courses because I haven't taken any
of the others (yet).

I used it for my PPL and loved it. Prepared me very well for the written as long as you have the discipline it deserves.

Re: Question.... Pilottrainning.ca
How does it work? Do you have to get approval from your ftu or can you just do the course?
Re: Question.... Pilottrainning.ca
You don't need permission from anyone. Take the online course, and sit the practice exams at the end of it. If you do ok Harv's Air will email you a pdf of a letter of recommendation that TC will accept as proof that you are eligible to sit the written exam.

Re: Question.... Pilottrainning.ca
I used it and was very satisfied - especially with the capability to replay certain videos until I funally got it!
The only thing that almost tripped me up, was that the letter of recommendation is only valid for a limited time - so I ended up writing my written way before I had planned to. Passed - but that then put a limit on how long I had to pass my flight test.
Make sure you know the rules and plan accordingly.

Re: Question.... Pilottrainning.ca
I'm using it because our local flight school cancelled their last session due to lack of enrollment. I find it's pretty thorough. As mentioned you can keep reviewing the videos until you "get it"... I plan to wait until near the end when I'm ready for the flight test to get the recommend to write. The course is valid for the better part of a year.

Re: Question.... Pilottrainning.ca
I signed up for an FTU recently, and showed up for one class.
Then I hear about this thing, and thinking about going for it.
Question is; Will the FTU sue me for this, If I want to do flying in the FTU?
I am now preparing for pstar and ROC-A. (Combined study? PM me) is there any minimum ground study hours for these exams?
Thank you

Sue you for what, exactly? Learning too much? Being too keen?sierraaviator wrote:I signed up for an FTU recently, and showed up for one class.

Re: Question.... Pilottrainning.ca
I was recommended pilottraining.ca by my FTU, when I was having difficulties scheduling ground school with them.
