Good Starting Airlines?
Hey Im just wondering what are some good starting airlines for lh pilots?
Re: Good Starting Airlines?
This post originates from residence@saultcollege, so I'm thinking it's earnest and genuine. Only helpful responses need reply, thanks.
Re: Good Starting Airlines?
Airlines? not many that will look at low hour guys. I thought I read that GGN wasn't doing their low time/mentor program any more and Jazz isn't taking 250hr guys from the college fast track programs either.
As for operators that take low time guys, Im really only familiar with the ramp to flight deck operations and float ops.
Perimeter
Borek
Sunwest
Tindi
CMA
All reasonable operations that take guys off the ramp and put them in the right seat of turbine twins.

Re: Good Starting Airlines?
This could be a useful thread, why spoil it with your very unhelpful agenda?
OP, what do you want in your career? Do you want to be a bush pilot, corporate pilot, airlines, or one of the dozens of other paths a career can take you? Having some direction early in your career can certainly help and sometimes hinder the progression and the end game. Give us some more info and maybe we can better point out a direction we would take rather than just randomly naming company names.

Good starting airlines for a 200hr CPL wannabe = the first one that will hire you.

BPF, that is very untrue as the "first one that will hire you" could very well be one of those shady operators that have a well deserved reputation for putting pilots and pax into unnecessarily dangerous situations. OR, you could end up paying for your training in a 182 and volunteering your time for the first yr. It pays to be selective and NOT just jump at the first opportunity blindly.

First off I was talking about a Jay Ohh Bee, job. That is where somebody pays you to work for them. Shytehole pay to fly operators like the Toronto Sky Dive are not "jobs" so they don't count.cdnpilot77 wrote:BPF, that is very untrue as the "first one that will hire you" could very well be one of those shady operators that have a well deserved reputation for putting pilots and pax into unnecessarily dangerous situations. As a 200 hr CPL you are an untested wannabe who does not have anything to offer an employer. Your first job is almost certainly not going to be flying an airplane it is going to be working dispatch/ramp/dock. Aviation is a small business and your success will largely be due to who you know. To get known you have to be inside the industry. Even a non flying job will get you contacts and an inside track on who is doing what. Obviously you want the best operator to start with but working for an OK operator is almost always going to be better than not working. Absolutely do your homework, but I still think you should take the first reasonable opportunity that comes along...

You added a key word in that last post "reasonable". Now we are in agreement. Your previous post stated "the first one that will hire you". Big difference in my opinion.

Missinippi has hired lower time guys in the past. I never worked there personally, but know guys who did and it worked out well for them. Might be a good place to start.
Maybe also look at flying Skydivers to get your hours up. If you can find a good operator, you can build some time in the summer. You can check the CSPA web site for DZ's and do a search here to see if anything negative comes up.
Good luck!

Island Express Air. Based in CYXX.
They hire low time Pilots. Prefer Pilots holding PPC on Navajo.
Fast track to the larger carriers maybe?

Re: Good Starting Airlines?
There is a trade off you need to think about as a low timer. If you work for a poorer company you will likely advance faster because every one is leaving. A better one will be a longer wait. If I was single, I'd go for the former. If I'm married with kids, go for the better more stable one.cdnpilot77 wrote:BPF, that is very untrue as the "first one that will hire you" could very well be one of those shady operators that have a well deserved reputation for putting pilots and pax into unnecessarily dangerous situations. Is faster promotion worth endangering yourself ie: YWG operator that shall remain nameless that fits your "former" group?Bede wrote:There is a trade off you need to think about as a low timer. I say no. I stand by my point that It pays to be selective...from recent personal experience.

Please keep your comments in context to this thread. A sincere question was asked and if you have nothing to add in regards to this question then move on.

Cdnpilot77,
Yeah, I know what you mean. I was more referring to the companies in the middle of nowhere that max there guys out every month and pay poorly. Unsafe operator is definitely another kettle of fish.

Can't disagree with you on that.
