I'm Doing Resumes Again

Post by xsbank »

If you need help with your cover letters and resumes, I can help.

There is a difference this time as I have retired from My Last Great Flying Job. Now I will need to charge a fee.

I have a good service to offer. I can help you and I am an aviation expert; most resume services have no clue about aviation or charge too much. I can help you make the best of what you have to offer and I might have some career advice.

My qualifications are one BBA, two ATPs, floats, bush, airlines, firebombing, survey, corporate, training jet type ratings, quality assurance and auditing. I have also graded resumes for an employment agency when the firebombing season was over.

If you are interested, please PM me.

He is just offering it, and he did a wonderful job with mine.

The other 156 Avcanadians don’t have the same background, but they sure have the kind of resume an employer likes to see.

Thanks Rudder Bug!

Pilots drive airplanes. Few have very much formal education (learning to write) except airplanes. What this translates into is disciplined pilots that aren't very good at writing. If you spent as much time perfecting your writing as you did doing cross-wind landings you would not need my services.

Mine won't have LEDs on it, it will just be straightforward and correct. It will be readable. You still have to provide something to sell so that part is up to you. Getting that something in front of someone who might purchase your labour and not just toss it in a bin is something I can help you with.

Look at it this way: even if you were competing for the same job against all 155 of xsbank's previous customers (obviously unlikely), is having a well-written, grammatically correct, and properly formatted resume really going to hurt your cause?

Can I still print it on cloud paper and attach a photo of myself in aviators standing next to a 172?

After reading comments in multiple threads about those in positions to sort resumes/hire pilots and their respective quirks and techniques, I think having Xs assist with a resume and cv would be a wise choice.

Rowdy I love that kind of talk!

Here is some prices from the competition, NOT an aviation guy. I thought this might cheer you up! This is the cheapest fee!

1) Tier 1 - Resume & Cover Letter

Tier 1 (Telephone Consultation) Typical tier 1 clients will have at least 1 year of work experience post-graduation and less than 5 years of work experience, or have an occupation or trade with less than 5 years of work experience.

$345.00

My fee is much less - PM me!

I endorse XS's resume / cover-letter's 110%. For years I struggled with having time and experience but no way to put it onto "paper" to capture a potential employers eye. With a properly formatted Resume' and guidance from MrBank I literally had responses with in a week of submitting my new resume to the same operators I had sent it out to weeks prior!!!

345.00 is priceless in contrast to knowing that what your putting out there truly is a professional piece.

Gentlemen, I am NOT charging $345! Not my fee!

That was an example of what you would have to pay if you went to someone else who did not even know anything about aviation.

Undercutting the resume business....race to the bottom and all that stuff

I joke...but I applaud your efforts for the resume help. Some people just can't wrap their head around the purpose of a resume. I have seen some that have been startlingly bad from very experienced people and some that are amazingly polished for young newcomers to the workforce.

Another key point to remember is that a resume doesn't get you a job, it gets you an interview, the interview gets you the job (in the vast majority of cases). So, put the info In That will get you the interview and expand upon it in the interview.

That's completely correct, put something in front of a busy Chief Pilot that he can draw the important facts from in about 30 seconds. My job is to make sure he doesn't throw it away.

That's it.
