Looking for an Accident Report from 1978
Does anybody have a link or a lead where to start looking for an accident report from 1978 for an Alberta based airplane? I know the civil ident.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: Looking for an Accident Report from 1978
That year there were quite few accidents into the mountains around that area. Surely there is a list someplace with some contacts to get some of the info ...
Re: Looking for an Accident Report from 1978
Contact Transport Canada. I did this in the past regarding a crash and they sent me the info they had. Sometimes it isn't much as not every crash has a detailed crash investigation. The fact that you have the ident and year should make it very easy for them to pull that info.

Which one is it? Has it been found?
Good judgment comes from experience. Experience often comes from bad judgment.

The date and approximate time allows weather identification, for example.rum-. wrote: Even if they dont they will make something up about it!

Transport used to print hard copies of all canadian accidents. I read em all in the 60's and 70's as a kid. they came in a sort of cheap book.

From what I read in the Library and Archives website a while ago, they quit compiling and printing those in 1974 out of privacy concerns. (sorry, don't have the link in front of me now) You can still request individual reports if you have enough information to start with, and if there was an actual report filed.howard40 wrote:Transport used to print hard copies of all canadian accidents. Edit:
Stumbled around a little and rediscovered the page I read earlier:
There is a note further down the page talking about accessing records 1975 and on.These reports are based on information determined during the accident investigation by Department of Transport personnel and their content is confined to cause-related circumstances only. The reports were prepared in a manner to be suitable for publication in order to provide guidance to the aviation community toward the prevention of future accidents. Based on a later collection of these Aircraft Accident Reports, it appears that these reports were distributed to a subscriber list of up to 8500 members of the public. In the early 1970s, because of privacy concerns, identifying information such as aircraft mark and location of accident began to be removed from the reports distributed. The distribution of formal aircraft accident investigation reports in this format ceased in late 1974.

Re: Looking for an Accident Report from 1978
Thanks for all the suggestions but the guy I needed to talk to saw this here and contacted me. Within about twenty-four hours I had three separate reports, including a dozen color pictures! (They were non fatal accidents involving a couple of airplanes I own, but long before I was involved with them).
(Thanks again, sir.)
