Conair Interview Thread?

Post by Adam Oke »

I'm curious as to where the Conair Interview thread went? For the life of me, I can not find it. If it was deleted, could the lady/gentleman who was posting such great content PM me. You posted minimums and progression. Thank you.

That was a very informative thread for sure. Not that I am anywhere near Conair's hiring requirements, but it was nice to get a bit of unvarnished information about the company, minimums, etc.

Here's a link from my history to the thread:

Which now brings up a "You Are Not Authorized to Access this Forum" warning...

Obviously they didn't like the topic. Somebody wasn't supposed to post those bidding details.

See how they treated the guy who was in that FireCow crash last summer. He's gone, yet there is still no cause.

Sensitive.

Oh well. Hopefully I will get a PM one of these days! In the mean time, I will keep putting water in my 402 in hopes it grows into an 802!

Those weren't bidding details. They are published hiring minimums(sort of) that anyone that calls and asks for a job will be told, or should be anyhow. It may be the case where an organization doesn't want the mysteries to be "demystified". Can't see that being the case but hell what do I know. I read no misinformation in that thread nor anything but good reviews but in this day and age any info can be bad info and if I were holding the keys to a very private privately owned entity I'd do the same, maybe.
Best of luck out there lads!

PS. I will, if contacted, try to answer any questions about Firefighting or Conair anyone may have. I would encourage, however, anyone curious to pop into an air tanker base during the season for a chat(best time being early afternoonish aka post meal, pre nap. Its a small window!). It is highly likely you will find a pilot lounging around more than happy to talk about the job. We are a friendly bunch and you may, if you are really nice and say "wow" a lot, be able to find a few to go for Pops with after dark. Caution, the semi reliable information you gather will become completely unreliable after alerts...by midnight it is complete and utter lies.

PPS. The real fun starts in Abbotsford about now. If you see someone in a red suit don't be afraid to introduce yourself. They are always looking for a few good men...haven't found one yet! One good lady though.

So very true, awesome guys at Conair. I've walked the ramp at YXX a few times in the past couple years (early post PPL days) talked about the FireBoss, looked at the Conviars, watched Electras doing engine runs, and was given a tour of Electra FYYJ while the crew was doing pre-trip checks.

Obviously I missed something in the phantom thread. Was it juicy? Probably not. Back to hibernation. And yes I agree, the folks at ConAir are good people as are 99% of other people you will meet at fire base. Avoid the 1% though.
