To those that believe that the US "stood down" the USAF during 9/11, I have a "NEWS FLASH for you. There was a Korean Airliner that didn't respond to calls to identify itself and was over the Yukon at the time. NORAD ordered the CAF into the air to intercept and the nearest operational CAF F'18's (un-armed at that moment) were at Bagotville, PQ. The USAF then intercepted that airliner and not with fighters out of AK either........out of Washington State. The USAF DID NOT 'stand down" as has been mentioned very often and THAT is a matter of easily researched record.......and you don't have to be a member of CSIS or the RCMP to find that info either.
To the gentleman who wished to "regurgitate" the past "dabbling into Afganistan, Iranian and Iraqi affairs plus other places worldwide", I suggest MOST STRONGLY that he do more research on his own country's past record in that regard before he demonstrates on a worldwide website how ignorant Canadians are of their own history......... THEN point fingers. We have been "into it up to our eyebrows" since WW2 and continue to do so. How about $500M of Canadian taxpayers' money sent to Iraq? Get rid of the "holier than thou attitude and come outta the bushes". We don't have the ultra Top Secret CSE complex in Ottawa and the cost of it to just "make pretend". We can, have done and continue to "dance" with the best.

istp ------oh we do a little training of other country's espionage agents. We do a little smuggling of other country's citizens out of other hostile country's because everyone thinks were "nice" and "harmless. Some of our Ambassadors and Embassy Staffs do a little "trarget-spotting" for friendly country's bombers so that they can hit their targets. Again, we are considered "neutral", "friendly" and "harmless" and get "free rein" as a result to go places other countries represenatives can't go. We have the CSE in Ottawa who can hear a cop fart in downtown Moscow if they want and have an undisclosed and unreportable hidden budget from the House of Commons and their prying, stupid little people. BUT were "friendly", "harmless" and really just mind our own business becaause we don't like people who aren't like that. Yesirreeee!
hey frankD, a bit of education for you:
in 1962, the CIA has had an awesome idea: to shoot down an american airliner over cuba, to give US a reason to kick castro's ass.
But before doing so, they've got another great idea: to control that damn airliner from the ground, with absolutely no one on board. without telling anybody, of course.
man, that's back in the 60's. imagine what they can think and do today. and if you think it was technologically impossible back then, i remind you that the first fully-automated landing was made in 1954 (if mem. serves me well), with a caravelle. they had the means and the money...
oh, and another good one:
before americans went to koweit the first time, there has been a report on tv, one evening, where millions of americans could see a young kowetian girl crying after she had seen iraki soldiers breaking into a hospital and killing new-born babies in incubators.
after this, america went to war.
a few years later, we discovered that the young girl was in fact the koweit ambassador's daughter. at the time of the original tv report, that young lady was right next to those millions suckers, living comfortably in Washington, DC. who decided to air that tv report? mister Bush himself, at the time president of the beautiful US of A.
IMHO, that's a pretty good example of mass control.
and if you think CIA is big and powerful, i let you discover the NSA. it's a pretty underground agency, but apparently, it's bigger than CIA and FBI put together. and i bet you never heard about it. imagine what they can do. now we're talking about a MFbig amount of $$$ and power.
happy nightmares!

Not sure if this was directed at me or MCA. Either way, you're right that it is important to be aware of as much history as possible, not selectively looking at individual situations so that it fits your viewpoint of the world.LH wrote:To the gentleman who wished to "regurgitate" the past "dabbling into Afganistan, Iranian and Iraqi affairs plus other places worldwide", I suggest MOST STRONGLY that he do more research on his own country's past record in that regard before he demonstrates on a worldwide website how ignorant Canadians are of their own history......... If Canada was involved in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan etc, that does not mean the we or the US were right or just to be meddling. And it does not mean the terrorists are right or just in making their attacks. And it does not mean that the US in Iraq and US and Canada in Afghanistan are right and just in invading other countries.
Dude. The terrorists are assholes. End of discussion.

My Friend from Lousiana says this:
Western culture and as they see it, decadence, is a siren call to the youth of their countries as it is to the entire world. Playboy, Bacardi, and bacon cheeseburgers are about as directly sacriligious as it gets to a Muslim. And it's all so seductively packaged and overwhelmingly marketed to the world it's impossible to not be tempted by it. That is why Khomeni called us the "Great Satan". He wasn't speaking in terms of us being a bunch of dudes with cloven hooves and tails, he was speaking in terms of our society being the great temptor of their youth.
In short, they see this as an assault on them from abroad. A psychological warfare that we've been running on them since we met them riding around on camels and said, Hey ummm.... you know you got Oil here right? They had no choice but get us to build the infrastructure necessary to capitalize on that resource and with that came western cultural influence.
Ultimately they would like to build some fantasy utopian society of veiled and enslaved women and lazy men that are all guaranteed to go the heaven because of it. But with the lights of the west on the horizon and that horizon getting closer with every churn of the advancement of technology they have staked their ground and said no further. We of course wonder what the @#$! they are talking about since this is not something we can control and can't relate to a any reason why we should.
That led to the view that any muslim that had taken on western ways was a race traitor. In some cases they were right because it was very simple to manipulate a bunch of dumb bedouins for the personal gain of the monarchs they had at the time. The shah of Iran being a prime example. So since they couldn't exactly come over here and take it out on Las Vegas they took it out on him instead and began to build their utopian sharia society of being an uneducated primative living like their great great grandfathers but with a shitload of cash.
And those with cash will always want to spend it on western things.
And the cycle continues.
Make no mistake, the mullahs have been at war with the west for 40+ years. We just haven't gotten comfortable with the fact that we have no choice now but be at war with them in return.

in any case, there is absolutely no way we can compare canada with US regarding their own history and the role they played in major conflicts. all the mad things canada has ever made against another country is a piece of cake besides what the US have done in the past 50 years.
if you think invading afghanistan or irak is bad, i agree. but that's nothing they want to hide! everyone's aware of their activities over there! what i mean is try to figure out what they are doing on secret operations and so and so. that's mad, men, that's really mad. and that's what going to kill us all if they keep going this way...
and if you think i don't know my own country's history and all the stuff i'm talking about, ... screw you.

FrankD,
Need some help removing the hook? Oh shit. You took the line and sinker too!
All I'm saying is that the 9/11 story has alot of angles and theories. The truth is somewhere in the middle. Your version is sort of off in a corner somwhere. A corner where light has trouble shining on.

What CID is trying to say is that if you were captive at the feet of an Islamic terror group, they would slice your head off just for looking so good. Radical Islam is NOT to be pandered to. They are not our friends.
