Just as there is recent instability throughout the airline niche in Canada as the industry is changing to remain "competitive"; In the corporate world it it equally volatile. HOWEVER...pay and lifestyle is far superior with the right corporate gig.
If one wants superior stability, better pay and lifestyle....get a hotdog cart. Many roads lead to Rome.
I work for one of the above mentioned companies - someone said in one post that the right corporate gig is arguably the best job in Canada. I would have to agree! I have flown corporate most of my career and I have always followed rule of "love the owner and you'll love the job".
Lifestyle: just as an example. On average we get two weeks off and sometimes three in a month. We have 6 weeks vacation (from day one) and twelve weeks off (not chosen). We generally fly throughout NA, SA, EU and CAR.
Family is happy, pays is better then airlines, benefits as well. Pension, and RPP.

My dog certainly benefits from that mindset. He's not even aware that his chow is mostly cornmeal and that it will eventually be me that has him put to death.

Well that certainly took a dark turn :/
Pretty sure there's labour laws against euthanizing pilots (I hope?)
Also, don't be a cheap bastard and buy some better quality dog chow. Geez.
Ha ha. I actually don't have a dog, and the pets I do have are spoiled and have the best nutrition possible.
I was trying to say that one mustn't be too grateful for scraps from the master's table. It's OK (though unlikely) that you should respect your corporate overlords, but don't make the mistake of feeling any affection for them. You occupy a lower class of existence as far as they're concerned, and if they feel any affection for you at all, it's a falsely indulgent, patronizing sort of affection that can turn malignant the second they cross the line and force you to stick up for yourself. Always be ready to bite. That's my experience, anyway.
