Thought the last episode was great! Scary to see the shit that goes on in other countries and that jumper did hit the ground HARD!!! I winced when he thudded into the beach!!!

I am thinking that's just the way SUPER Dave operates. He was on a show a few years back. I believe it was dangerous flights ferrying a Dornier over seas. Flying low level thru the Ice burgs. Then realizing 3/4 way thru the trip he was going to be fuel critical. Leaving being that way trying to get a direct diversion every time he keyed the mike saying he was fuel critical. What a Joke.

If you think they flew the dornier on the same leg from low level around the icebergs, to being fuel critical, I might call this a joke...

I thought I saw the Unmentionable walking with one of the performers@ YND but it was probaby just my imagination.

If memory serves me correct the he flew low level around the Ice bergs a few days before he was fuel critical on his last leg of the Ferry flight.

I've had the privilege of meeting and conversing many of the pilots of the series Airshow, at the North West Council of Airshows. The producers had the difficult task of balancing the drama and romanticizing the danger for the general public because they need to market to a wider demographic than just pilots. That's why people make "Airshow Crash Compliations" on youtube and watch shows called "Dangerous Flights" and "Mayday".
When I watched a room full of show pilots discuss crash, fire, safety rescue it was an eye-opener for sure. Each pilot in the room had a story about a friend they lost or even watched die during a performance. There is a lack of training for GA crash rescue techniques and they are pushing a plane to its limits low level. So it is inherently a dangerous job to choose to do with very few pilots even breaking even in a season, its a group of passionate and, at times, egotistical people as a result.
As the president of the BC Aerobatics Club I have a constant challenge to encourage an interest in aerobatic flying and I was concerned this show might emphasize the dangers of it rather than what we do to make it safe. I think we can all agree that certain aspects may have been over dramatized (eg "a deadly phenomena called density altitude"). In 2 seasons of show flying they did see a few fires, engine failures, crashes etc. but to some extent that is a part of the industry. Would have been nice to see a documentary style of how things go when things go well - as that is more often than not.

That in itself is concerning because the uneducated are being taught that this is the way the Airshows are .
I for one cant even bring myself to watch .
To be fair and give the show a chance, I watched 3 episodes and there was enough B.S. and repetition that it was not worth watching again. However , I will say that the Gopro footage is pretty good

It amazes me that the performers would agree to be portrayed the way they are . To extent it makes them look both amateurish and dangerous . I'd be pissed if it was me.

Actually Andy put on a very nice show with no drama as usual. So i guess its dull to non pilots but I frankly find that takeoff, roll inverted down runway to a minimum speed outside 1/2 loop prett freaking impressive.. Not easy to stay straight on the way up at -5g or so at such a low airspeed. Perhaps the hair helps

Saw the fire on the stearman .. Got my attention, that was not fake drama, that can be dangerous.

Superdave gave my friend a ride, and then gave me a ride after an airshow . In his Pitts then. We were being rewarded for doing something good.

He asked each of us how we wanted it. My (non pilot ) friend elected for "mild" . He got a mild (for superdave ) ride. My friend was thrilled.
He asked me how I wanted it when strapping in. I said "give her. I've had a long happy life, put alla pepper you want".

Great ride. Wasn't expecting to go inverted as soon as the wheels left the ground, but meh, I asked for it, I guess.
Great Pilot. Very nice guy. Much more thoughtful speaker than depicted on the tube.

Common misconception. Skill of an aerobatic pilot is in not making the passenger puke. If you fly smoothly and coordinated it should be a pretty flow-y ride which stops before people stop having fun and start messing up themselves and the airplane.

Another common one is first time passengers telling you proudly that they didn't eat that morning so that they wouldn't puke in the plane. Fastest way to get a puker is to take one up with low blood sugar. Low blood sugar = low G tolerance.

Been watching it... seems to be getting better. Was there any TC report on that fuel incident? Assuming there was since he damaged the rear end of the plane. What was it, a fuel transfer issue? Seemed like a fun ride.

Seems like his ferry tank didn't want to transfer. Seems like a common problem if you've ever watched that show ferry pilots.

Actually nice to see the young guy getting a shot. However going from that home built to the Pitts this year, makes me wonder if Dave helped him out a bit (since it was Dave's first aerobatic plane).
