I've never worked for an airline Stump...because they tend to layoff...and most of them are unionized.

8) I've also never been given a time-out here...not that I know of anyways...the moderators can chime in on that....but they judge me too and never seem to read the insults directed towards me.

Has Westjet ever laid off any AME Es?...none that I know...but I 've never worked for them either.

All of those companies you mentioned I've never worked for either...you see that's your problem...you're so narrow minded you won't open up your eyes and see all of the other areas in aviation maintenance one could work...all of the other possibilities that are out there....all of the other avenues that one could take.

There's more to aviation maintenance than twisting wrenches...and there is more than just AME Ms out there.

And I could and did handle the wages in the beginning... $8/ hour when I started...I didn't get a huge mortgage or get a new truck or a new snow machine just because I thought I was entitled to it when I got my first job...I waited until I could afford it and I never tied myself down and "had" to keep that shitty job.

Boo freak'n hoo for you and everyone else that did cause here's a news flash...you did it the wrong way.

Just for laughs:

Here's Troublshot's original post:

who says they are disregarding the positives? I can list off plenty of positives to the aircraft maintenance trade...the problem is there are more negatives in my opinion. But hey, if someone wants to still go for it after reading all the negatives and positives that is their right.

But if there are any newbies reading this you might want to use the search button and search the author "NeverBlue" before you read into his "thoughts" too much...I'll leave it at that.

Here is an exercise. Do some real research and make a comparative list and stack aircraft maintenance up against two other trades....and exclude the "cool factor" from your lists because you really won't care about that after a year or so. If you think aircraft maintenance is the best outta the three, then go for it. I'm guessing...no wait...I know aircraft maintenance will lose badly but it's your list.
Here's conehead's misquoting (accidentally, I presume) of Troubleshot's post:

All in all, good advice, but this line isn't true for all. I've been working in this business for over 35 years, and I still find it cool. That's just me.
And here’s NeverBlue explaining what he meant in sentence he didn’t even write:
NeverBlue wrote:
NeverBlue wrote:

A little out of context conehead

It's always cool to me.
what i meant was after a year or so it won't "matter" anymore because you'll either love it or hate it.

...if it wasn't still cool to me I wouldn't still be doing it.
money isn't and never has been the driver for me. Liking going to work everyday is...

Thanks for the plug though.

GyvAir what is your problem? Serial troll? ok...

you don't like my one-line posts? So what! I stay away from the insults unlike you...hot air is unbecoming.

Are you an AME E?...please tell me where my technical advice is sketchy and where my stories don't jive cause i guess you're the expert.
What is my problem? I stated that about a page ago. Your posting style disrupts this forum and you lack credibility.

No, I’m not an AME-E. I don’t claim to be knowledgeable or proficient in most things “E”.
I don’t need to know everything about everything to sometimes catch when someone is claiming experience in and talking with authority about stuff they should be studying about instead.
Here’s one that I stumbled on the other day when someone was asking about compass swings, (I think that’s basic enough for a lowly “M” guy to weigh in on) where you demonstrate an arrogance that’s a little ironic, given the way you demonstrate your lack of knowledge on the topic in the same sentences:

Thanks for making my point neverblue.

Now please quit trolling on my thread and start your own on the wonderful glories of avionics

Uhh...I did write that Gyv...you should read the thread.

 ...and I'm pretty sure I know how to do a compass swing...and why doing one with a GPS instead of a Master Compass is completely and utterly ridiculous.

Keep trying though...

Please, show us where.

Fully agree on not using GPS to swing a compass.
Not in agreement with you in this typical NeverBlue exchange though:
Hornblower wrote:

Dude doesn't know how the compasses work, but is telling us how to fix'em.
NeverBlue wrote:...Ok Dude...

Anyways, I'm tiring of poking the bop clown. There is another thing we agree on: this whole thing is unbecoming. It wouldn't be a bad thing at all if 90% of this thread just vaporized. Where's Steve Wilkos when you need him?

You obviously don't know how a whiskey compass is made then...it has magnets inside on the float and in the adjustment mechanism...the fluid helps to dampen and lubricate...it's usually refined kerosene..if you don't adjust every year the moisture inside the airplane can seize the screws from the outside but only if they're never adjusted for years...duh
Really?...that's all you got?...too easy.

Ok, I work on some Old shit (read warbirds/ classic aircraft)... Never have I seen the adjustment screws on the compass seized. Not once, and I've dealt with compasses that haven't been mucked with for many a year.

I have only a few times but the case was so badly pitted from corrosion that either the aircraft was sunk, had been operated on salt water without any maintenance, or it was parked outside for years without being touched...and everything was corroded.
Salt water float planes especially in the Caribbean or South Pacific are notorious for corrosion and can be bad if things are not used or maintained regularly.
I've seen radios with seized on/off and squelch switches simply because they were never used.

But in Canada, if the annual compass swing is being performed, never...

I guess though that "amateur communicators" know better than us...

So you've gone from moisture in the aircraft.... to aircraft that may have been underwater or float planes, or aircraft that have had no maintenance?

then you state none in Canada though...and only if you don't touch the screws for years???

So you chime in on a subject talking about adjustment screws saying things like "duh" and "that's all you got?" then start to back-peddle two post later. What is your deal man? You constantly try to school some pretty experienced AME's here on subjects you obviously have no hands-on experience dealing with....you are trying to make people look bad by using an example you may come across once in every 200 aircraft? or more?

priceless...

Are the salinity levels of Canadian seas so different then?

Yes...quite. And the humidity levels on the Canadian coasts are way less.

If you've ever gone swimming in the south pacific and then hung your suit and towel to dry without rinsing it in fresh water, it could take days...even in a strong wind.

yeah, not really. west coast is ok, but the Maritimes are brutal for humidity in the none winter months, as bad as the carribean.

I've actually been to all those areas.

oh..ha ha ha. now you're attempting humour.

Funny, I've known people that exhibit the same behaviour in discussions they are doing poorly in.
trying to deflect. We called them full of shit.
Ever heard that? :D :-o  :-D

I was laughing AT you for trying to compare Maritime climate to the Caribbean's in some sort of attempt to discredit what I wrote
