Anyone know the schedule they're on? 7 on 7 off, 4 on 4 off, etc...

Does that mean I get food stamps then? Sounds like an upgrade.. Finley wrote:I think they're on the food stamp schedule...

F.O Starts at $45k, Captain $70k. Jets exclusively operate out of YVR. These rates may have gone up recently as well.
The medevac gigs (Jet and King Air) for Carson are both pretty good. In particular the Kelowna King Air guys have quite the life, with day only flights and good pay.

Don't they have to sit at the airport waiting for flights for 12 hours straight?

Yup, not ideal. However a shift worker in a plant often sits in the same seat watching a conveyor belt for 12 hours, a long haul pilot keeps a seat warm for 15 hours staring at a MFD. I realize it's like comparing apples to ketchup, but it is a fairly well paying job with a lot of time off.Phlyer wrote:PointyEngine wrote: In particular the Kelowna King Air guys have quite the life, with day only flights and good pay.

This is not unusual with a lot of companies. The trade off is having a good rotation.Phlyer wrote: Don't they have to sit at the airport waiting for flights for 12 hours straight?
Re: Carson C560
Curious as to what avionics Carson uses in their King Airs? Also, does anyone know what the schedule is like these days in Kelowna - still 5-5, or 4-4 with 12 hour shifts? Is it really day only flying - what is the work day, 7am - 7am? What sort of vacation time to they get? Any word on if they will be getting the 3 year extension mentioned in their BCAS contract (out to 2020)? Don't think they are hiring at the moment, I'm just thinking about options. Cheers. Post or PM is fine.
Re: Carson C560
Having to sit (or sleep) at the airport for the duration of your scheduled shift is far superior than being on the cellphone and getting a call at some ungodly hour and then starting a 14 hour duty day.
Also, no long haul pilot sits for 15 hours straight at the controls. We get bunks!

The 12 hour shifts are way better than the on call 24/7 aupposedly legal alternative that some other provinces do. Base locations have bunks as well. same kind of experince as a firefighter schedule. Not sure what it is now, but years ago it as 4 on 4 off t the YVR base.
