Company Layoffs: A Better Guide to Employment Identification

Greetings all. I hope all is well! It came up to me last night to try to identify all those companies that recently laid-off our dear colleges. With this hiring spree continuing well into the next year, I'm sure a few got reabsorbed during these waves of hiring. But for those who are still looking for work, It would be great to try to figure out the areas in our country that have been mostly affected. This in turn can help areas to avoid or select when sending resumes. The main catalyst that prompted me to do this is the situation in Alberta. Although in a different economical situation, how realistic is it to get hired there as a pilot? Here are the companies that I know for sure, but if you guys know of how many individuals were laid off, that would be great for this database! Again; safe flights to all!!!!

Companies that have laid-off:

- Canadian North
- Canjet (Defunct)
- Kelowna Flightcraft = 35 pilots +
- Sunwest
- Missinippi Airways

Keystone. Although it remains to be seen how many will be re-hired by whoever buys it out. I'm guessing somewhere in the neighbourhood of 30-40 people (AMEs, pilots, office).

Those who were laid off from Missinippi have all found jobs elsewhere. I highly doubt they'd want to go back.
