kelowna flightcraft?
Long time avcanada reader, first time poster...
Tried this one in general comments but no takers. May have a chance to work at Kelowna Flightcraft, but I can't find any info on the company in the posts. Does anybody have any opinions on working conditions, pay, schedule, bases, career progression etc. at KFC?

I have not worked there myself, but I know a couple of guys who came from there.
Their words were, it is a good place to work, conditions are good. They are primarily a cargo operation, apart from the new 737 pax operation in YHM, and the Convair operation on the west coast in the summer in support of the fishing camp industry. The rest is doing night flights for Purolator across the country.
A couple of bases are YVR, YHM and I think YHZ. Schedules are supposed to be pretty good, don't remember the specifics, and I can't comment on pay.
Progression was/is S/O on the 727, then right seat on the convair, right seat on the 727, left seat on the convair, left seat on the 727. Apparently most of the guys there are pretty happy, so I couldn't guess how long to make your way though the ranks.

Also...
Pretty sure that YXE is considered a base... big Purolator building at the port, 727 always parked on the apron outside, and always leaves around 10 or 11 pm, and back by 5 am.
Somewhere there's a job where the customers enjoy taking the scenic route...
Not too sure about Flightcraft but I do know Kelowna is a great place to live.
If your single, about 4 to 1 ratio of women to men.
If your a golfer, lots of great golfing in the area.
If your into water, Okanagan lake is 92 miles long, lots of room to play.
If your into wine their is 12 wineries in Kelowna alone.
Cycling, hiking, watersports of all description.
Lots of sun, Just out of the most northern desert in the world.
Come and check it out for yourself if you can. PM me if you come and I'll show you around a little.

they might be hiring...
My wife works in a women's clothing store and said that one of the women came in and said her husband works there and that they are hiring... so my wife told me to apply... so I told her what I knew about the company and that 220TT wouldn't really grab their attention...
Probably worth looking into further for anyone that would be qualified though.

Hey bandaid, I can certainly see where your artist friend is coming from. Watching paint dry can be very slow and time-consuming. I remember when we were painting the barn at Gran-Gran's farm as kids and Serge fell off the stepladder....his foot ended up in a can of Fire Engine Red, and he hopped around until it fell off--it was funny as shit.
Good times!

I don't think that 2200TT is to much for them if you are interested.... They like a bare 1500TT with a fresh ATR.. Those are the only people who will sit sideways for 3 or 4 years making min wage....

Well, that is great if they are in your age group. If it is just a hot destination for blue rinse retirees, then the wild parties you're imagining may end at 9:00 pm for bedtime.endless wrote:Wow, 4 girls for every guy. I think the last few places I've lived in had 40 guys for every girl. The girls weren't all that easy to tell appart from the guys either.

Minimums are ATPL, 1500TT, 500 multi. However these are the bare minimums, the average in the last ground school was 2500 - 3000 TT, with multi-turbine time and had an internal reference.
Presently no movement, no hiring expected at the moment, maybe in fall if we get more 737-800's. As far as I know there are still some people left in the hiring pool from the last interviews.
Bases are YVR, YLW, YYC, YQT, YXE, YHM, YYZ, YHZ where all the western bases are the most senior bases and YHM the most junior.
Flightcraft is a good place to be, great people, good pay, per diems, benefits, pension plan, profit sharing, 13.5 days per month schedule. The pilot group is unionized with ALPA.
