Teamsters coming to YYZ GA
Yup, you heard right! A "source" said they're planning to organize the " management" companies at the north end, all of them. Guess the thinking is is they organize one, the owners will just move their planes somewhere else. Should be interesting if it happens...colour me skeptical...

Re: Teamsters coming to YYZ GA
Would there be traction for that up there. Me thinks most of those pilots are there by choice and are happy with their spots.
Teamsters is a huge huge huggge waste of time, IMHO. Talked to lots of regional pilots down south and all those guys do (Teamsters) is take dues. If the best those guys can do is what has been happening to the U.S regional market, hopefully the guys and gals at the north end will think twice before giving them a chance and just bargain based on experience and move when the going gets rough.
I think in this 'interneted' economy, people know when and where the grass in greener, for the most part, and have better access to new job openings. No need to be sheltered and suppressed by shitty representation.
This is why bonds are becoming the norm, low supply, high demand, fluid system, educated (loose term) employees.

As a former Teamster, spend your money elsewhere if you really want to organize.
What a useless Union, with respect to airline operations.

Teamster is almost a fraud, UNIFOR takes the money but has ZERO expertise for pilots and ALPA doesn't get involved if it is too small.

Not gonna happen....Too many factors, too many wildly different contracts etc. I am based at the North end and I would not sign any Union card or pay dues in my present position. I have much better things I can spend that 2.5-5% on.

"...too many factors, too many wildly different contracts.." Isn't that exactly why they need some represention and organization? Pay scales are all over the place, no scheduled time off, seem to be a couple of the biggest concerns for these guys!
Re: Teamsters coming to YYZ GA
No, firstly they will have scheduled time off at a minimum the CAR's regulated time off, secondly speaking of the company I work for there is no pay scale because at time of hire they are looking for professionals and as such you negotiate your own salary and terms based on experience, job discription and aircraft type to be flown.Forest Gump wrote:Isn't that exactly why they need some represention and organization?
Personally I'd never want some bloated corrupt Union extorting money from me monthly to negotiate terms of employment on my behalf that I can do a better job of myself.
To quote Winston Churchill (who was speaking on socialism but also fits unions well)
"It's inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery"
"If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through."

By it's very nature, corporate flying is very "flexible"...unions are not.
Can't see it happening.

Sounds like it's no rumour, that you are leading the drive? To be honest, I have no desire to even listen to the BS that Union would puke out. There is nothing they could do for me at this point, that I couldn't do for myself!Forest Gump wrote:"...too many factors, too many wildly different contracts.."
