A few years back Air Canada gutted their Vancouver hanger and shipped that work to god-knows-where. They probably did it elsewhere also. FWIW, Westjet gets their heavy checks done by KF Aero, keeping it in the country.

JD Aero has been doing Porter's Q400 for a while now. And......now Westjet ......oops Encore.

"Unfortunate" is definitely the right word, and with the regulators now actively changing to be "less oversight, more self-reporting" with the carriers, it's not likely to change back anytime soon.

Don't be surprised to see a label "lavatory" on the electrical panel on some big jets. I already seen similar things happened on some Air Canada flights.

You do not believe me! check it out yourself! A lot of the paint job in Air Canada were done in countries where they do not know English. A lot of those labels are done wrong or placed in a wrong place. If you ask me, Westjet did a better job maintaining their AME jobs in Canada (or at least in North America). SO.....

If this were the case, the crews would be very quick to write up a snag on such a thing. I've heard no reports of any.
