Convering my ATPL to FAA
Has anyone done it since the rules changed last year? Just looking for a simplified procedure (I've read the FAA pdf that's 30 pages long), and an idea about the cost of the process.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: Convering my ATPL to FAA
Just got off the phone with an FAA guy. And he said apply to the airline you want to work for and then if you get on, the airline takes care all the rest of the paper work. I guess they need regional pilots like crazy. not sure if this helps?

Will they take care of visa paper work too?Flyboy19803 wrote:Just got off the phone with an FAA guy. I'm sure (the airline) they would take care of the Visa paper work as will. Can't see anyone not working there without a visa.

I would be very surprised if a US regional airline hired someone without the pre-existing necessary legal authorization to work in the US (i.e. non-sponsored Visa or green card). My understanding is that if you do not already have the legal right to work in the US, you're out of luck.Flyboy19803 wrote:I'm sure (the airline) they would take care of the Visa paper work as will. With regard to the license issue, many regionals now offer the CPT course as part of their hiring benefits. They will hire you with an FAA CPL and the appropriate hours for ATP eligibility, but then pay for you to go do the CPT course (which then allows you to write the FAA ATP exams).
I'm not sure if they would accept the Canadian ATPL with appropriate hours or whether someone would be required to first convert the TCCA ATPL to an FAA CPL (this is permitted) and then make an application later on to do the ATP after completing the CPT course provided by the airline.

Exactly. Personally I'm just looking to expand on my ferry flying, not looking at an airline op at all.JBI wrote:I would be very surprised if a US regional airline hired someone without the pre-existing necessary legal authorization to work in the US (i.e. non-sponsored Visa or green card).
