The chart also compares the CS100 to the 737-700 and A319, which are different sizes and an unfair comparison. Be a bit like comparing a Cirrus to a Cessna 206 and complaining that it can't carry as much

The CS100 competes with the 737-600 and the A318. The CS300 competes with the 737-700 and the A319.

Guess what, Bombardier has already trademarked "CS500".
Once this plane finally starts selling and Bombardier makes some profit, I see it doing exceptionally well. I predict 3 or 4 different versions, the same way there is for the 737 and A320 series.

Should they get government money? Boeing does, Airbus does. Why shouldn't Bombardier? Whether I agree with government sponsored corporations or not, it seems to be the price of admission to compete in this market.

I actually own Bombardier stock, not very much because I make pilot pay, but that's more faith than a lot of people have.

Canada will contribute $2.65 billion over the next five years to help developing countries tackle climate change. Not a whimper or a whisper from Canadians. Yet, many Canadians have issues with a $1 billion investment in Bombardier's survival and fail to see how that investment would have a significantly positive impact on the Canadian Aerospace industry.
I can just imagine where that free money for developing countries will end up and we'll be getting zero ROI for being nothing more than the nice guy. Wow. What a country.
Bang on

Not to mention the approximately $30 BILLION in private sector shovel ready pipeline projects that could start TOMORROW. Oh but wait.......

Anyway, do taxpayers really want to get into a un-ending government sponsored airliner-making subsidy battle with other countries that probably have a lot more money than us? I don't and especially with a company based in Quebec and one that has shown poor leadership.
What does the fact that the company is based in Quebec change? We are all Canadian no? If government spends billions on olympics i am very well comfortable with them investing in our aerospace industry. Agree or not that is fine but the fact that people turn this into Quebec bashing is well beyond me.

Because Quebec periodically ponders whether to even be a part of this country. Sounds like a weak investment to me.

Now if Bombardier were to move their headquarters....

Confliction, people who want the independence of Quebec are now a minority of the population.
You can some research on that, it is easy to find stats.

+1 for Gino Under as president! :D lol

There is no operational history on the cseries, so it is hard to forge an opinion and compare it to the market. Time will tell.

I found more data on the product : http://commercialaircraft.bombardier.co ... en.pdf.pdf

If BBD desperately needs cash, maybe they could ask Quebec for some of their $10B in equalization payments from this year alone. After all, if it's such a good and important investment, it should produce a profitable return.

This thread is about the cseries... Can we let the politicians deal with independence, pipelines, equalization?

Looks like British Airways is interested in the CSeries.
