Just how, exactly, does a non-public company get taken over hostilly? Did a man with a gun storm the building with wads of cash and FORCE the owners to sell?!

actually it was a take over and a walk out. One of the owners of Quikair screwed the other owner by signing over all the bank information to another guy he brought in.

All the quikair empolyees have loyalty and respect for the one that walked so we all walked with him.

Quikair is still operating but it is kind of a gong show right now but who knows maybe they will get back on there feet right away. Who knows! But im hoping not considering all that has happened.

My 2 Cents:

There were/are two original owners of Quikair. A Calgary businessman bought-in and became a majority partner back in 2001 and he brought Alta Flights into the mix. in 2003 he (and Alta.) then slowly started pulling out of the business.

Once Alta was gone, Quikair chartered King Airs from all over Southern Alberta to fly the legs (I think BarXH and Airco were the main suppliers).

Recently 'word on the street' in YYC was that the original Calgary businessman bought back in...without Alta. this time. He teamed up with one of the original owners, leaving the second original owner as the minority.

Trouble is that Quikair is a very political place and most/all of the staff are loyal to the second original owner. The staff there are great , so if this 'walk-out' is true, the staff must have all been truly fed-up with the 'new' Quikair!

Quikpass bought out Quikair and they are now Quikair inc. using the former Alta planes. The people who walked out were all support staff in Edmonton; Calgary is where the base will be now. As far as I know no one walked out in YYC. No pilots walked either.

you are half ass right.....i am a former employee of Quikair and all staff out of yxd and yyc have walked out. Not one stayed...

And greenwich you hit the nail on the head. That is exactly what happened and then some.

P.S. none of the pilots walked out because none of them worked for Quikair. They where all employed by Barxh and Airco.

Quikair

Post by ajet32 »

Avrogirl is right all support staff left. Quikair / Quikpass have never had their own aircraft . They operated 2 Jetstream 31 A/C under Alta Flights OC from may of 2003 until sep 2003 after which they have wetleased AC from Airco, BarXH, Sunwest , Kenn Borek and Flt Ops Int'l/ SkyXpress. There were no pilots employed by Quikair after March 2004 . therefore no one to walk out except the staff which supported an honest partner as opposed to one perhaps not.
Neither Quikair or Quikpass have an Operating Certificate so any pilots flying a Quikair AC actually work, on paper, for another operater. Neither one has ever held an operating certificate.

Fly it like you stole It!!

I think I know who you are Avro girl and I am sorry to hear what happend last week. DM is a great guy and I wish things could have worked out better. I have to say I am impressed to see how you and the rest of the staff supported DM and were that faithful to him. Maybe he can get something else going, but I tend to think that he is just going to enjoy the retirement plans he had and move on. As for the rest of you, all the best, sorry to see you go. Take care.

For those of you wondering if Quikair is still running, it is and it is pretty much normal ops now. But there are things in the works and it is looking like the company will grow. Can't wait to see what they park out front next!

Thanks Adanac!

I am pretty sure i know who you are aswell and you have seen and heard everything that has lead up to what has happened. All of us that have left Quikair have left for a good reason...loyalty may not always get u that far but at least we can all sleep at night.

Cheers!
