Ever fly coast to coast in a Cessna

I'm just curious... has anyone ever took a C152/C172 and flown from Quebec/GTA to BC and vice versa? I'm wondering to read your experiences because I'd love to do this trip one someday...

I've done Edmonton to Fredericton in a Cessna 170 and two years later, left Fredericton and delivered the aircraft to Dawson Creek. Several years ago, I flew from Calgary to Saint John NB in a Cessna 182. Last year, I flew my RV-7A from Vernon BC to Moncton NB and back, and a couple of weeks ago, I flew from Fredericton back to Vernon in an RV-8.

A trip of 3000 miles is just a series of 300 mile legs run together. Plan your trip and enjoy the adventure; don't push yourself or the weather. If you get held up, it becomes part of the adventure. On my most recent trip, there were 2.5 flying days and 2 weather days.

Met him on his way through Nova Scotia. Was kind of a neat crossing of paths as I remembered fuelling that same aircraft about 13 years ago out in BC.

I've done it several times with no problems. Just leave time for the weather you need to be safe. It's a lot easier these days with GPS, rather than the NORDO planes I did it in decades ago!

If you fly in a fairly populated area (south along the border-ish) you can just get the maps and go.
If you fly in remote areas I'd spend a bit of time thinking about survival stuff, then buy the maps and go.

I did a south-north crossing and it really is just a bunch of smaller trips. Nothing to get nervous about. Just remember that not every airport has avgas available.

Do make sure there's gas available where you're going to land. Airport tanks can run dry and it may be a few days before the tanker shows up.

Jacks story is pretty interesting. . He got his license a few months before I got mine. . His reasoning for doing the flight was 2 parts. . 1 for the adventure and 1 to look at the northern passage and to see if he could take his jetski through the pass. . (He took his jet ski around vancouver island of I remember correctly.

He told me it took him a lot of time arranging fuel because there isn't much avgas up north. . And planning his fuel out so that he got the most user or of the sealed drums because there was no refund on the left over fuel.

He flew close to 600 hours that year in the 172.. put a brand new engine in it, just for the trip. .

Wife & I have flown our 185 from Piit Meadows to Charlottetown a couple of times,she's hinting at using it to return to Summerside for my 40th high school reunion in 2019.
