Re: EVAS Air
Chorus has totally refitted one of the Jazz DHC-8-100s with an all new cabin and renewed flight deck.
Plan is to agressively seek to take back the flying that is being accomplished with the 1900s!
With Chorus AND Air Lab eager to take a bite off of the Store's bottom line, it may be a great time for crews to seek alternate employment.
Sad for the 'bys' in NL!
But I don't think anyone will miss the Whites.

Serious shake-up news to come.
I hope those Gander guys and gals have a polished CV.

Re: EVAS Air
I would not be surprised to see GGN become the sole AC Express B1900 operator.
As for the surplus CHR D8-100's .... that is up to AC. There is a long term plan in place at AC for the Express network and you only get to see what they let you see. Frequent small fleet announcements that are drawing a clearer picture each day.

Re: EVAS Air
As long as Georgian is the lowest bidder that is quite possible. With that being said Georgian lost/gave up their base in the east. I would be surprised if they were given/wanted it back.rudder wrote:I would not be surprised to see GGN become the sole AC Express B1900 operator.

Re: EVAS Air
My understanding was GGN gave up YHZ to concentrate on the cyyc base, and 3rd party aircraft management. Now that nothings going on in yyc maybe they want teh east coast. Back
Re: EVAS Air
Ggn was asked to give up the yhz base if they wanted to expand into the 705 world with the new routes on the RJ. They have no interest in taking it back but if it was dropped on their lap I'm sure they wouldn't put up a fuss.

Re: EVAS Air
Got some of the latest intel from the pride of the east.
Can someone from EVAS confirm that EVAS is supposed to have a spare aircraft at each base? Looks like, according to an inside source, that they only have 2 planes in the Halifax base now doing the work that 3 should be.
Looks like they're stretching everything and everyone paper thin. I hear their crews are doing 10 leg days sometimes, resulting in 12-14 hour days with a 11 hr 50 min day stuck in there so they don't have to give that 4th day off after 3, 12+ hr days.
One of the pilots in the Halifax base just resigned due to fatigue/stress and two are off work at this time for the same reason. Rumour is another pilot there is about to take time off too due to the same reasons.
Guys are quitting because of the conditions there with no jobs to go to. That says a lot about the company.
I hear " Flo' Rida' " is looking for ways to stretch their 'resources' even thinner.
Does Air Canada see any of this? How can they not take action? It is Air Canada's name on the line. You think they'd care.
Also, what's the latest on the inexperienced crew that crash landed that bird a few months back? Any updates on the investigation?

Re: EVAS Air
Here's what I can confirm unequivocally; both you and anona should be ashamed of yourselves. So because you've both moved on you both feel it to be ok to actively seek the closing of a company that some of your friends and literal neighbours work for in order to pay their mortgages, feed their kids, make their car payments etc? What, exactly, do you two hope to gain by this? If evas folds a lot of good people (people you both know) are in serious trouble and you two want what, to be able to laugh and say how right you were? Do you think the Whites will be the ones to be devastated financially?thepriceisright wrote:Got some of the latest intel from the pride of the east.

Do I think evas is a great company? No, not by a long shot. But I'd like to think that when I move on or my spouse allows me to retire that I'll have the decency to not be advocating for its demise.
And as for your insinuations about the accident all I can say is mayhaps you should be sharing your insights with the TSB since you seem to have everything figured out.

I find no joy in bringing to light the many issues EVAS has. I feel it is a duty of mine, of sorts.
Also, I made no such insinuations about the accident. I said the crew was inexperienced. They were. That's a fact, not an insinuation.
I didn't post to have a bickering match. So if you want to tell people you are the only one in the world who needs to feed his family, you dont need to do it on the back of my post that is meant to bring light to the issues at hand.
Anyone have some Intel or maybe we should have a poll on this thread to see how many people want me to stop posting here. Would that keep your family fed, Toeless?

Yep, I admit it. I work here for the money. There, I said it. It feels good to unburden myself. Can I get an amen from my fellow disreputable heathen EVAS brothers and sisters? A hallelujah even? I feel glad for you, that you were able to find salvation away from the masses of the great unwashed. I feel almost ashamed now that I know you're simply doing your civic duty. It truly takes a brave man to pick a battle he can't lose because he has absolutely zero vested interest in the outcome other than personal satisfaction. Just try not to trip over your cape when you're climbing down from your soapbox there champ.

Re: EVAS Air
Or maybe the working conditions could be improved so that it's not an unsafe operation (if the details posted are true, IMO those kinds of schedules and conditions are indeed unsafe) *without* closing down the company and booting everyone out of work.
If losing jobs was an allowed rationale for letting operators take advantage of employees, we would be flying 777s on 20 hour shifts, for McDonald wages. Companies are trying to cut costs to make money, thats why they exist after all. Improving working conditions will cause pain for someone at some point.
For those wondering, let's be clear, for good or bad Air Canada is a business whose main objective is making shareholders dividends and their CEOs fat bonus cheques. Until EVAS starts crashing fins on a regular basis, or doesn't make their OTP, they will sit on their hands and take advantage of the low bids to operate the routes. It's called economics.

Hilarious
Truly and surely a joke.
EVAS advertising their "Competitive" salary!
Come on folks, sure they compete with McD's and Wal-Mart. But how does a company brag about their "top secret" pay scale?
Of they were actually proud of their pay, it would be advertised!
However, good job including winter flying experience! That's a sincere applause!
Also, yes I truly believe pushing these clowns to improve their operation is much more in line with the goal than closing down the shop.
No one wants to see their colleague out of work. Well, no one worth their salt!
