Villeneuve Tower Frequency change
My buddy just let me know that Tower went from 120.0 to 118.8. I can't find any record of this (yeah I know, get a new CFS). I usually rely on Firelight. Anyhow, any info to confirm is appreciated, and maybe a "heads up" to guys like me relying on Firelight. Cheers

Re: Villeneuve Tower Frequency change
Just checked Calgary Pilot supply and the current CFS still shows Tower as 120.0, valid until September........

If only there was a product that let pilots (or airmen/women) know about or give notice of things such as this...

Come on man, that would involve actually putting effort into thinking. We know how much people hate that nowadays.Pratt X 3 wrote:If only there was a product that let pilots (or airmen/women) know about or give notice of things such as this...

Yeah, I'm busted. Thanks guys......I didn't bother to check Notams after my buddy had told me this.....my bad.
Re: Villeneuve Tower Frequency change
I had heard it has something to do with the newer G1000 aircraft, the radios had static that made communication almost impossible, So Garmin working with Cessna and Nav Canada couldn't find a solution, so it was easiest to switch the frequency as 120.0 is a frequency that is not used Stateside ( so I'm told) ........... Anyway that is the reason I heard
Re: Villeneuve Tower Frequency change
Well advertised on the bulletin boards in the flying schools at nearby airports, if you are renting.
Re: Villeneuve Tower Frequency change
There may be some truth to that. Interestingly, the Boeing aeroplane that I fly has a limitation not to use 120.000 or 120.005 on VHF-2, lest the EFIS and flight control computer go haywire. I've always wondered what the reason for that is.Aussiecat wrote:I had heard it has something to do with the newer G1000 aircraft, the radios had static that made communication almost impossible, So Garmin working with Cessna and Nav Canada couldn't find a solution, so it was easiest to switch the frequency as 120.0 is a frequency that is not used Stateside ( so I'm told) ........... This is true, I think it was something to do with the electronic fuel probes

Re: Villeneuve Tower Frequency change
The G1000 Grand Caravan has no issues. The EX has issues, and Cessna's 'fix' is to pull the fuel gauge circuit breakers. Better not run out of fuel with them pulled, since a means to check fuel quantity in flight is required and the unfortunate pilot is very likely to have lots of trouble assuming they survive...
Someone dropped the ball when they decided to monkey with the fuel gauges for the EX.
