I Fly for Pie, now in YNJ

Post by U/S »

It'll be nice to have "I fly of pie" closer to me. I suspect I may gain a few unwanted pounds  as a result. Cant wait to check out the new location, best of luck with the new venture and I'm confident You'll receive much better treatment from YNJ airport than you did in "The Wack".

From the Langley Advance:

The three Good sisters, Judi, Jacqueline, and Tracey, are opening a branch of their famous Chilliwack coffee shop at Langley’s airport.

The official name of the little café is simply The Airport Coffee Shop, but it’s known to pilots around southern B.C. as I Fly For Pie.

The pie place with a reputation among flyers is landing in Langley, with a new location at the Canadian Museum of Flight.

“We’ve always wanted to branch out anyway,” said Judi Good, one of the three Good sisters who run the Langley and Chilliwack locations.

The plan is to open in Langley this Saturday if all goes well, serving coffee, burgers, sandwiches, soup and potato salad, along with a selection of pies.

The owners already knew there was plenty of interest in their café from local pilots, since a lot of recreational flyers from all over the Lower Mainland head out to Chilliwack’s airport to have lunch or dessert at the Airport Coffee Shop.

Good said for the first little while, they’ll play it by ear as far as hours.

They plan to open at 7 a.m. and will be open seven days at week at first.

While the smaller location in Langley will mean they won’t have space to bake here, they will bring in their fresh desserts.

“There’ll definitely be a selection of pies every day,” said Good.

The landlord for the coffee shop will be the Canadian Museum of Flight.

“All of us are on starvation diets right now, because we anticipate very soon, we won’t be able to fit into the aircraft,” said Mike Sattler, the museum’s general manager.

We tried out Judi's Blueberry/Peach yesterday and it was fabulous.

It would appear as though the fight has resumed at YCW between management and the tennants

Congrats on the new venture! The "fight" is over land values. It's a long term to close chilliwack replace with condos. And shops. The chillwack airport sits atop prime real estate. Chicago, edmonton muni. Just to name a few. The average price in the valley for a home has gone up 60 to80000 from last year . Not sayn it will happen overnight but unless the airport community gets active gets an lpv ifr approach it will likely in 20yrs go the way of the dodo. From the nimby's. Once again ladies. Much success in your new location
