Hi, I am trying to prepare for the exams also. Good info on here, thanks. I was wondering if anybody tried this site. It claims to have all the study material needed for the exam. I want to purchase the course but would like to here from someone who went through it first. Thank You.

Hey guys! I am new to this board and (hopefully anyways) new to the aviation industry. I am prepping for the Flight Dispatcher exams and I am taking the pilottraining.ca online course. Its quite in depth, has anyone else used this school and passed the exams? Thanks again.

I just wrote the FD Met exam last Friday sort of as a practice for my CPAER this week and it was a breeze... I have been using FTGU, Above & Beyond, & Sharper Edge as my reference materials to study for the CPL... Nothing tricky, all very straight forward... Might try OPS in a couple of weeks.

You can write it whenever you want but each exam is valid for only two years.

Ps: Don't hope too much it's really difficult to get a job.

I have been trying for several months, send a lot of resumes and I've never got any answer despite my experiences as a commercial pilot, flight attendant and the fact that I'm bilingual (french and english).
If you don't have a very good contact inside a compagny, forget it.

I used the course in http://www.pilottraining.ca/index.php?d ... uct_id=259
I did it a year and half ago. It was really helpful to me. It's made on the model of the Gleim courses they have on the States, but requires some extra studing. It's expensive I guess but I saved me a lot of time by pointing me on the right directions to study.
By the way I think somebody else said it but the exams are very similar to the SARON and SAMRA with some obvious differences.
For me the the course was really worth it's cost.
Good luck!

There is a 21week Dispatcher Course offered in Toronto. https://flightdispatchtraining.com .It was formerly a York University course but is now offered privately for a much cheaper price. These guys have been doing it for 20 years and the reviews have been great. Someone said that not only do these guys help you pass the exams but they give you a good idea of how the job actually is and what you can do to get jobs.

If you can get your hands on study material in regards to the SARON and SAMRA that would be a great study resource. My best advice is for the weather exam is get your hands on the air command weather manual. It is laid out nicely and is an easier read than some of the other weather material. I am not 100 percent sure what the flight dispatch generic training course material so I cannot comment on that material. Good luck! It can be tough career to get into but once you are doing it for awhile the pay and benefits are good and you can make a good career out of it.

Thanks for your advice. I'll try to lay my hands on your recommendation. I was referring to the . Flight dispatch generic training course. I got the 2017 edition, it was quite expensive in my opinion and I'm not sure if it will serve it's purpose. The writer suggests it's more like an all in one material designed to prepare you for both FDMET and FDOPS EXAMS. I was hoping if anyone can confirm this before I can completely rely on it.

I tried posting the Author's name I realised it keeps appearing as a 'dot'. I'm not sure why though . . it is.

Air Command Weather Manual is a great book for the FDMET. It is exactly what I used. Also, From The Ground Up for the FDOPS part of the exam. The exams are quite similar to an ATPL exam and I am sure that there is more material out there to prep people for those courses. I know the study guide seems like a massive amount of information to undertake but really you just need a general working knowledge. Once you pass the tests, the majority (if not all) of your knowledge comes from on the job training and working a desk consistently.
Best of luck

Call to your local Transport Canada office and ask them. I did mine a couple of years ago in YWG and they had two dates weekly.
Good luck!

Depends on what office you want to write at. I wrote one in Calgary and one in Toronto.
Calgary was available any day of the week but you have to call ahead and make an appointment. They suggested to give two weeks advance notice.
Toronto on the other hand was walk in no appointment required, however writing exams was only available three times a week from what I remember.

Just call your local office and check if you need to book your place in advance.

Good luck
