Company Ideas
Looking for possible job ideas in the Winnipeg, Manitoba area. I'm interested in something based out of Winnipeg where I can commute from home for every flight. What type of jobs are available that fit this description? New in town. I have a current ATPL, 4000 hours with about 1000 Multi all PIC.
Even if nobody is hiring I would appreciate feedback, thanks.

Fast Air charter King Air Captain. IIRC, Mon-Fri more or less.

I'm sure that Perimeter would be interested, and Calm Air, also...
Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?

Re: Company Ideas
Perimeter would be the only home every night, Calm Air would be more overnights. Northway Aviation is as close to bankers hours as a pilot can get based out of St. Andrews.

Fast Air will likely put you on medivac, week on/week off.Saxub wrote:Fast Air charter King Air Captain. IIRC, Mon-Fri more or less.
Their jet side will have you overnighting wherever the owner/customer wants to go.
Their King Air charters would be home most nights, but that's usually where the low time captains go before they qualify for medivac.
Sky North does 1 week medivac rotations similar to Fast Air.
Try Government Air on the Twin Otter. You do 1 week rotations to Thompson, but that's relatively infrequent. I don't know anything about their Citations. Might be Manitoba's best kept secret?
Northway is a pretty sweet gig from what I've heard. They have a pretty small route network, but if you are okay with that it could be great.
Calm Air was mentioned previously. Didn't realize their overnighted that much. Maybe worth checking into more?
Perimeter could work, but that's a time building job. Most people stay there until you hit 3000 hrs then leave. Plus, do you really want to fly a metro?
Bearskin Winnipeg base might be an option. Not sure how their seniority system works. You may not have that option. It's a question for the interview. Again, it's also a metro.
Kississing in St. Andrews is an option. From what I understand it's mostly King Air charters. Last I hard that place was a dog's breakfast for customers, pilots and maintenance alike.
Skycare also has a Merlin based in St. Andrews, but their reputation is fairly well known....
Anybody know what's up with Keewatin these days? I know they used to have a few planes based in Winnipeg, not sure if that's the case anymore.
Re: Company Ideas
I heard Fast was looking for a Charter Captain.. no rotations up north.
Re: Company Ideas
They are not. They are looking for medevac captains. See the job ads section.Saxub wrote:I heard Fast was looking for a Charter Captain.. no rotations up north.

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Re: Company Ideas
I know someone who was talking to them not even a week ago about a charter job... Whether it's preliminary searching or not, I don't know but it's worth an ask.
Re: Company Ideas
Keewatin is 2 weeks on 2 weeks off
Bearskin no longer has a YWG base as far as I know.
Right now most of these companies are struggling keeping pilots with everyone chasing metal so if you make it clear you are not doing that you can probably negotiate coming in at a higher rate of pay than a year 1 guy.
