Does your IATRA expire after you're no longer current on a 2 crew aircraft.

Post by Sounds7878 »

Here's my situation, I wrote my CPL and IATRA 3 years ago and was then hired to fly a 2 crew aircraft within the 24 month validity period of the IATRA. I just switched over to flying a non 2 crew aircraft (high performance though) with the same company 4 months ago and then expired on the previous 2 crew aircraft after 6 months (didn't do another PPC). I've now applied to a different company that flies only 2 crew aircraft.

So my question is do I have to rewrite the IATRA since its been 3 years since I wrote it last and I'm no longer current on a 2 crew aircraft or is my IATRA still good since I've had a 2 crew type rating in the past?

I've been searching through the CARS and can't seem to find an answer other than having to complete the IATRA within 24 months of the first type rating. Which I'm not sure means any 2 crew type rating in general or the first for each specific aircraft. Looking through the forums I've seen numerous mentions to the IATRA being good forever once you've got the type rating but can't find anything on what happens when you're no longer flying that aircraft.

So if anyone has any specific quotes from TC to clear this up or have heard of a situation like this before your impute would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Did you fly a bird that was 2 crew but certified for single pilot? or a type certified requiring 2 crew?

IIRC if you fly a type that was certified requiring 2 crew within the 2 years after writing the IATRA then it doesn't become invalid. If you were 2 crew on a bird that was certified with 1 pilot, then it is expired at this point.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong!

EDIT/PS: If you're on a high performance bird, you're probably going to be finishing off most of, if not all of your ATPL time requirements. Probably best off writing your A's rather than bothering with re-writing the IATRA if you need to.

The first aircraft I flew was certified as a 2 crew aircraft. So I knew my IATRA would be good as long as I was flying it. Now that I'm no longer current I'm not sure if I have to rewrite or I'm ok because I got a 2 crew certified type rating within the original 24 months.
