A plug for blundstones

So after 7 years my flying boots literally broke in half, the soles disintegrated. I emailed blundstone about where to get the soles replaced. To my surprise after emailing pics of the damage and seeing the leather was mint, they just sent me a new pair, all the required was the destruction of the old pair.
That's pretty good customer service if you ask me.

You had a pair of work shoes that lasted SEVEN YEARS? That alone is incredible, not to mention the fact that you were able to convince them that the soles of a seven-year old pair of shoes was unreasonably deteriorated.

My shoes last two years, if I'm lucky.

I've got two pair. The inside on one is coming apart. Headed to YWG tmrw. We shall see if they replace them. Great shoes though.

My family owns two shoe stores that sell all leather shoes. What you want to treat them with is a mink oil. Make sure you really rub it on. Its like moisturizing you skin. The better you treat the boots, the longer they last. Especially if they get wet a lot. The leather will dry out and crack or rip if you don't treat them.

I love my Blundstones (almost 3 years of coastal salt water abuse) and I've been using "sno-seal" (bee wax) on them. They are starting to crack a little should I "wax" a mink on the dock after work hours and use it's oil instead?

The other great company is Vasque. They make hiking boots. After having hiked all over the place over 10 years, the soles disintegrated. They were bound for the dump but someone suggested I send the factory the pair. To my surprise I got a new free pair. Now I plug that company whenever I can.

On the other hand, I had a "life time" warrant Chlorophyll rain jacket fail within 2 years. They would't honor the warranty because it's a "life time" of the garment and since the garment failed, it was clearly passed it's lifetime.

Sno seal is great stuff for hiking/work boots, mink oil I thought was more for an indoor leather dress shoe. For snow seal a heat gun works great to really get it to soak in. A hair dryer would probably do the trick. Boy you sure need gojo or fast orange to get either off your hands after though.

The issue I've had trying them on is that they either fit or don't. With no laces you can't make up at all, it's a one shot deal. KAG must just be really light on his feet. That ballet training paying off.

Co Joe. I felt mine were too small at first but you just have to wear them in. Then they're perfect.

They are "the" boot. Have worn them in jungle of Papua to barrens of Labrador . Best flying boot going I've found .

oh I'm graceful alright, my dainty 220 destroys many a shoe. To be fair I didn't wear them in the summer, winters only. I also in that time broke a pair of Echo shoes in half (best shoes I've ever owned).
Ive turned the destroyed blundstones into work boots as they are super easy to kick on and off sans elastics. I just need to shoe goo the soles to prevent them from getting worse.

Follow up. I emailed Laura Palmer at Tin Shack in Collingwood (Canadian distributor). She said send them in. I did. Two weeks later new pair arrived.
Great customer service. Great product. With a pair of Smart Wool medium hikers, they're what I wear all winter. Yes, I do . Soriels in the back. Great on the bike. No lace loops to snag pegs. This happens once, you'll understand.
