Controlled vfr in class B
Can someone answer this
vft-ott and cvfr
I believe that when flying vfr-ott you use vfr altitudes
You file as vfr and follow vfr rules even when on top
ie 1000's +500 based upon direction of flight ( no clearance required )
But when flying cvfr in class B the AIM 5.6 states that clearance will be issued just prior to entering Class B , even for vfr and that
" cvfr flights must be conducted in accordance with procedures for use by IFR" . That seems pretty clear but it does not explicitly state flight levels appropriate for Cvfr flight in class B space
I would determine for reading this that one should use IFR altitudes based upon the direction of flight in these conditions.
But i could easily be wrong
Advice? Thank you Peter

thanks ahramin...am i also correct about the vfr-ott altitudes ( basically vfr -ott follows all vfr fl rules per direction of flight
Re: Controlled vfr in class B
It isn't a question of what altitude you "should" use. You will be told by ATC what altitude to maintain. And as ahramin said it will be an IFR altitude as we have to provide IFR separation between you and other IFR aircraft.pkofman1 wrote:That seems pretty clear but it does not explicitly state flight levels appropriate for Cvfr flight in class B space
