Dispatcher - Information request

Hello,

New to this forum, I hope I’m in the right place 

I’m currently looking for a position in a Flight Operations Department, anywhere in Canada. Ideally, as Flight Dispatcher, but I would of course be happy to start with a more administrative job, or something related to safety management.

I’ve answered a few postings, and tried to contact people through linkedin or email, but so far, no luck. So I was wondering if you may have some advice for me ? If there is any actual Dispatcher out there, I would really appreciate if you could take a few minutes to talk about your experience and background with me.

Also, I’d like to get the Dispatcher license. Is it mandatory to complete a course before taking the test, or can you just register as “external candidate” ? If so, does somebody know how to register ?

Hi Martin
If you look in Avcanada you will find quite a bit of information about Dispatchers.
If you have no previous experience it may be good for you to take the Flight Dispatcher exams. To actually take them all you need to do it to schedule the exam at your nearest TC office. There's a bunch of good online courses you can take to prepare for them but you have to pay them (for me it was money well spent) but you can study on your own and there are also some free resources around. The actual exams are free, or where free three years ago.
I worked as a Dispatcher in Calm Air for some time before moving to flight ops. Feel free to PM me.
