Re: Anyone having experience with 737 NG type rating ?
I looked into this very thing a few years back. Didn't end up pulling the trigger due to another opportunity that came up.
The long and short of it was that companies in the US bent over backwards to get me information on how to do it as a Canadian. It cost about 1/10 of what Sunwing will tell minister Garneau it costs to train a pilot on type. IIRC, it was about $5000 for ground school and sim training (hotel and food not included). The process seemed very straight forward. Most places will get you to do the systems training at home online and then show up for sim with some basic knowledge. Helps cut down on hotel stays.
The bigger outfits (CAE, FSI) charged more money but in the end a smaller school (Pan Am Academy) would get the same type rating on your license.
I'd suggest your "friend" google search a few places and email them. They'll likely get back to you very quickly. Enjoy the overseas world.

I made it in Europe, 13000 euros + tax for ground school and simulator training (40 hours Classic and 4 hours NG), 6000 euros for base training.
5000$ for ground school and training seems not exact, you need 40 hours simulators and an approved one cost around 600$/hours. Maybe I am wrong

I have no experience with 737 model but the Next Generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft is the biggest selling model and has up to 189 seats, compared to just 100 on the original 737-100 and the Next Generation 737-800 and 737-900 are the biggest members of the Boeing family.

Your friend should stay away from the -100 course...

Back to your question. PanAm in Miami is one provider and they have competitive rates- I think about $8000-$9000 if he does the CBT at home before arriving.
Of course I assume that your friend has a conditional offer based on his having the Type Rating as most companies will not hire pilots with less than 500 hours on type. I know Korean and other airlines sometimes do it when his previous experience is what they deem to be a similar type (i.e. A320 experience for an A330 contract).
