Making money during our time off

There was an interesting thread here a few months ago about hobbies pilots do on the their time off. I am looking for ideas to make money on my time off. I know some guys make money on the side doing non flying stuff, like gardening or snow removal and there's a few ads here looking for pilots to install Christmas lights for the holidays and other odd jobs.
Any thoughts?

It seems thats true as long as the oyster shell is a only form of transportation...

I used to work rotations and worked for a moving company on a casual basis on my time off, good workout as well! saved on a gym membership. Always ads on kijiji for people looking for someone to help with a move for a day here and there as well.

Also can always make money with a truck, moving furniture, equipment, even taking stuff to the dump, just have to advertise yourself for hire.

I wouldn't call driving the honey truck transportation related, although you could use the expression "hauling shit" to describe it I suppose.

Teach ground school at your local Air Cadet Squadron and help kids prepare for their Glider and Private License.

It's a fulfilling gig, and you will find yourself likely volunteering for other positions if you wish to get paid or volunteer. Civilian Instructors get paid something like $90 per day (6hr minimum to get a full days pay). So for an evening of ground school, you can bank $45 for each ground school lesson. It will keep you sharp on the basics, and at the same time you will grow as a leader and grow skill sets that will help you along the way (re: patience, instructional techniques, professionalism, etc).

You can enroll in the Canadian Forces as a Cadet Instructor and work your way up the ranks, getting paid for courses at a much better rate, and this will in turn give you a better rate in the long run. I fly on weekends for the cadet program and see a 4-5k T4 with travel pay at the end of the year. Good quid for an easy, fun gig to sit on an airfield and supervise and instruct kids flying gliders...while taking the odd tow plane up. It certainly isn't a money maker on weekends putting in 12-13 hrs door to door ... but I enjoy the hobby that gives an additional kick back in pay.

I also used to do a lot of movie background work, and what they called "special skills" background. Pretty much anything to do with riding motorcycles, quads, high performance driving. Basically anything that didn't quite make it to the "stunt" definition. On top of that, commercials pay well too, $500+ a day and if you find a good agent they are very flexible. They take people of all shapes, sizes, age and ethnicity. And it can be petty fun too.

I made for fun a rustic barn door out of Hemlock. $75 worth of materials, 1.5 hours worth of my time, I didn't use it so I sold it online for $200 without trying. Got me thinking this may be my kids part time jobs down the road, make a few doors and sell them. they can work 10 hours at tims or build a door in 1.5 hours and earn the same money.
For me OT is just too lucrative to pass up. But I do have a budding wood working interest brewing.

And you're right about OT. You can make more on one WDO than you could typically working any other job. The cars importing thing for me is partially to make money and partially to keep busy. It's kinda half a hobby, half a job.

Thanks again for the ideas, guys! Somebody at my company told me some guys work overtime as their "hobby" and it's true, it's hard to make that kind of money doing something else. My ideal overtime would be during the week while the wife and kids are doing their own stuff rather than on the weekends, but that's what I get for having low seniority. Fortunately the way things are moving that is changing all the time.
I've been thinking about learning programming . That's something you can you do away from home.

I liked the idea of being a pornstar but that was my dream when I was 20. Now I dream of 7hs of uninterrupted sleep without my kids waking me up.

I am on Calm Air. I don't know much about it FICA but from what I just saw is based on Sabre and we use a different system. Thanks anyway!

Army Reserves. A real great experience, great benefits, etc. Plus you're getting paid while doing it. You can even get on amazing courses that will be useful to you in your civilian careers or other hobbies you might have i.e. Survival courses, basic mountain ops(rock climbing), advance first aid, driver courses, the list goes on. Also a great part-time job for flight students while getting their licences.
