Grace Lake airport at The Pas closing

Notice letter has been released to stakeholders that CJR3 will be permanetely closing on June 15. It states all equipment, aircraft, vehicles, etc are to be removed by June 15. Really hoping the operator on the field there was given more notice than 2 months to find a new base...I'd also hope the government is paying for the hangars and office located on the field. Anyone know any more details on this? Seems to have come from out of nowhere. Curious as to what will happen with Missinippi??? Seems like a huge nightmare for them if they were only given the same notice everyone else was at the same time.

I hope they got more notice as well. Can't really move an entire operation in 2 months. Designing and building hangars, offices, etc. in 2 months, plus the time required to move simply isn't possible.

Although that said, I'm surprised anybody operated out of there commercially. 3300' gravel is not much room for King Airs and Navajos. There is a 5900' paved runway 10 miles away as an alternative.

Ah, the memories back in my early days with Lambs. Used to be quite an operation there with Lambs and MGAS to mention two of the operators, as well as private aircraft etc....

We were informed last year that this was an eventuality. I don't work for Missinippi, however my company was made aware to expect it.
