She’s built like a Steakhouse, but she handles like a Bistro.

I think a PIT maneuver on the tail would have worked just as well

I would love to see the repair bill

Actually this plane was loaded with electronics coming in from Bolivia. Electronics are highly regulated in Brazil and are subjet to a 30 to 40% tariff when imported. So they get smuggled in.

In 2010, I was flying my Mooney to Jamaica and was searched by the U.S. CBP (along with a drug dog) before DEPARTING Key West. I more or less asked the same question.co-joe wrote:Seems plausible. LOts of places without income tax run the country on consumption taxes, sort of 50 to 100% duty on goods brought into country. SO it makes great sense to pack a few TV's etc as its not as apt to get you shot as drugs, but its a big cash savings. One unnamed country i used to go to was rumoured that if you paid half of what would have been the tax, (ie a split sort of), the customs guy got half the tax , you saved half the tax , and the country got none....
if you tried to smuggle and got caught, the customs guy was a hero for catching you, and you went to jail. So the customs guys could hardly lose....
