Personally, I think a mobile vaccine clinic should be down there. They could offer free food to those who get a jab.

I'm sure they would be lining up.

There is lots of jabbing going on in Ottawa. Just go for a walk about 1 block east of the Byward Market and you'll see what I mean.

Furthermore, the convoy has offered a 1000 dollar reward, matched by true North to identify the very small group. Some may not want to admit it, but it is likely, even probable, those people were part of a group whose aim it was to negatively portray the protesters.
100% they were there to cause shit, paid antifa actors no doubt.

Notice they are all wearing masks and in black bloc too.

The “Very small group” made its damage.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-60190452
Protesters against a vaccine mandate for truckers crossing the US-Canada border have brought Canada's capital city to a standstill for a second day.
Thousands of demonstrators joined the so-called Freedom Convoy in Ottawa.
Police say they are investigating allegations of illegal activity by some demonstrators, including the appearance of swastika flags.
Defence Minister Anita Anand said some protesters' actions had been "beyond reprehensible".
The Chief of Canada's Defence Staff, Gen Wayne Eyre, also hit out against some of the demonstrators, saying that he had been "sickened" by footage of a woman dancing naked on the tomb of the unknown soldier.
Ottawa police said in a Twitter post that "several" investigations were now under way into the "desecration" of a number monuments in the capital city, as well as "threatening/illegal/intimidating behaviour to police/city workers and other individuals and damage to a city vehicle".
Elsewhere across the city, truckers blocked the streets around Canada's parliament building and Ottawa's Mayor Jim Watson said some protesters had harassed staff at a soup kitchen, demanding free meals after they were turned away by restaurants for their refusal to comply with indoor mask mandates.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his family were also forced to leave their homes in Ottawa over safety concerns on Saturday.
Around 90% of Canada's 120,000 cross-border truckers are now vaccinated, far above the national average of 79%, but the demonstrators have pledged to continue their protests until the mandate is removed.
Mr Trudeau called the protesters "a small fringe minority" during an interview earlier this week.
But the leader of Canada's opposition Conservative Party, Erin O'Toole, has expressed his support.
And to put a balance what fox news has to say, too long to quote so take your pick. I chose this one:
https://www.foxnews.com/world/canada-pm ... dom-convoy
"The Canadian truckers – you’ve been reading about it – who are resisting, bravely, these lawless mandates are doing more to defend American freedom than our own leaders by far," former U.S. President Donald Trump said Saturday evening, speaking at a Save America rally in Conroe, Texas. "And we want those great Canadian truckers to know that we are with them all the way."

No?

Any tear gas deployed?

No.

The only credible reports are from the professional sounding Ottawa Police.

Not the cowardly divisive politicians.

Does it sound like this political leader supports the right to peaceful protest?

And i thought truckers were our front line heroes.

(Sunday) Mayor Watson calls behaviour of convoy protesters unruly, despicable, abhorrent.

“It really is despicable behaviour and my message to the truckers is you've had your protest, you've had your rally, time to go back home,” said Mayor Jim Watson.

Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson is asking the “unruly” truck convoy protesters to be respectful in the city and to let residents get back to their normal lives.

Watson says incidents over the course of the weekend have overshadowed the truck drivers’ message.

Thousands of Canadians have gathered in the nation’s capital to voice their displeasure with the Justin Trudeau government and its COVID-19 mandates.

Watson says the protesters’ behaviour is making life difficult for Ottawans.

“You don't come into someone else's neighbourhood, blare your horns and loudspeakers all night so children can't get to sleep, harass 17, 18-year-olds at a fast-food restaurant who won't serve you because you're not wearing a mask," he said.

“It really is despicable behaviour and my message to the truckers is you've had your protest, you've had your rally, time to go back home.”

“Watson also pointed to other offences such as public drinking, using fireworks illegally in the city, and the general parking and traffic nightmare in the downtown area that has forced some businesses like certain LCBO branches to close, as well as the Main and Rideau branches of Ottawa Public Library.”

Oh well, try to jab some common sense into people is difficult. Probably almost every one of them has a tetanus shot, polio, diptheria, and a couple of others.

As an anecdote, I admit, that I not only saw the convoy as it passed by this week, parts of the convoy literally passed one block from where I was staying. I didn't expect that and had driven around earlier in the day to catch a glimpse of it. There was bridge after bridge with loads of people on them. My favourite sign that I saw....."Say No To Castreau". Which may be more appropriate than some people realize(if you look up Justin's potential father).

In addition, there were plenty of F#ck Trudeau signs and that actually did make it tempting to honk my horn. But I resisted the temptation.

Comparison:

2015 protest in Montreal. Damage. Violence. 84 arrested. Tear gas.

CBC: “Most were peaceful” —“these things happen” — then promptly demonizes the police.

ZERO arrests in Ottawa.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal ... -1.3058316

Check this out. The violence! Not a word from Singh or Trudeau.

I think its time, if all truckers are no more than Racist Homophobic Misogynistic terrorists, that they leave Ottawa…go home….and commence a general strike.

No violence. No protest. Just stop driving. Immediately.

A month would be great. I’m guessing the rhetoric would change. What would the government do about thousands of independent drivers refusing loads? Arrest them?

Do it. I’m fine with it. Is everyone else?

Are you also fine with "assisting" them in paying their bills, putting food on their table and financing their needs.

No. They should go back to work. Pick up a few backhaul loads on the way home. Costs covered by GoFundMe and some extra for the backhaul, capitalism at work.

Why?

Are strikes only allowed for pilots?

You asked if I was 'fine with it', not whether a strike is allowed. I'm not 'fine with it'. A strike(or refusal to work for yourself) is legal.

Polio and tetanus shots are different. They work. You don’t get pushed to get them every 3 months. Also you don’t get 3 or 4 polio shots and still get polio.

Shorting the market are we?

A lot of people trying to make ends meet can be negatively affected by an attempt to 'Shut it down'. Perhaps supporters of such an action that would not be adversely affected should consider this.

So you support strikes being legal.

But not if you’re affected in the slightest.

There’s a word for that.

I’ll ignore your stupid first sentence.

And — if you don’t see widespread strikes coming anyway, you’re not as smart as I thought

Not much of an argument when 10% of the population(those without vaccine) are 50% of ICU patients.

I support the concept of the law allowing a trucker to go on strike. From a personal point of view, I don't support the idea of them actually going on strike. There are a lot of other people aside from me that would be harmed by a strike. And it would be more than slightly. Perhaps consider them as well.

Widespread strikes?......Possible. Probably more in the US, which just speeds up the road to automation. Trucking is in the sights of that at some point. Oil sands have already done that to an extent.

I still remember a bunch of air traffic controllers that tried to take on Ronald Reagan(and hold the country hostage) many years ago. Some of them ended up as truck drivers in their new career.
