It's Friday. I need to see some pictures of Canada's back country. This thread is one of my favorites as I have not lived in Canada for nine years and the images in this thread take me back to a stunningly beautiful country.
Guys....break out more pics for your appreciative audience.
bezerker...beautiful shots.

If your a hunter, it'll look like this:

Clearing customs:

If you deal well with surprises:

Or if you need a bit of exercises, and wanna roll a few drums:

If your an Oil and Gas Type:

My shots are either the point and shoot Nikon Coolpix, or the Canon 1d MKII. Most of the aircraft shots are the point and shoot, but all the scenery and B&W stuff is with the 1D. Lenses on that are either the 24-70F2.8, or the 70-200mmIS F2.8.
This really is a good thread, great to SEE what everyone is up to, instead of hearing about it....

Awesome pics gentlemen. I wish I had the skill.
No airplane pics but I've got lots of scenery for you.
Not the best pic, but notable as it a panorama of the biggest hill in the country and the plane is at around 17,000 feet
A few miles down the valley.
Panorama of last pic.
A couple more nice pics from the same flight.
You still don't get the sense of scale unless you are there unfortunately.

Waddington is cool - try flying UP the glacier (kids, don't try this at home) on just the right day....wonderful spot.
Once upon a time I flew into Scar Creek in the Homathco regularly and got up to that area lots.
EVERYBODY'S photos are glorious - well done!

Spectacular spot. I wanted to get up Bute in my boat this summer but the mouth of the Homathco is not a great place to anchor. It is a long haul with little shelter in a slow boat, with really scary winds in the afternoon, although this year was so wet there probably weren't the usual outflows. I'll do it one year, if I live long enough.
Sky, is there still a camp and airstrip there? I used to land an Islander in there and the leading edge of the stab was bashed flat by rocks that would work their way out of the riverbed. The camp would grade it then a few days later, riverbed again.
Later, for another company, that airplane was lost with 8 pax somewhere between Campbell River and Smithers - never found a trace. I often wondered if the tail had something to do with it...

That's why I quit flying airplanes.....
The whole Scar Camp is still there, derilict now though, but still intact. The airstrip is usable, certainly by a single, maybe even get a Twin Otter in there still.
We were working in a cut block about 2000ft above camp, and it was crystal clear, so Waddington et al were out in all their splendor. No camera of course....
The history of that place is amazing, and flying the canyon upstream a couple miles is pretty neat. The main camp these days is Terminal's camp at the mouth of the Homathco, as well as Interfor's camp at Potato Point. The water was glass in there all day yesterday, first time I've ever seen that!
Busy place these days, the Chinook is in there Logging, we're tree planting and doing power line work, so lots of traffic around.

This thread delivers.
I spent three years living in YRB, YUX, YFB and YGW. I spent a further three years based in YYC, YMQ and YVR with job responsibilities up north.
That was long ago and I have been out of Canada for nine years, living now in Switzerland.
The geography of Europe, where I now live, is beautiful. But it really cannot hold a candle to what we have in Canada. I wish I appreciated it more when I was up there.
I want to thank everyone that submits on this thread. It takes me right back to the great back country of Canada. Thank you so much.
This thread really is my favorite thread on Avcanada. I often find myself tripping back here, especially on a Friday afternoon when all I really want to do is jump on a plane and escape somewhere.
...and here's another great shot from avweb:

Drill pad up in Yukon. About 6000ft, was supposed to be temporary, was built (I use the term loosely) for the Hughes 500 not the Long Ranger - never works out that way of course....
