Sorry but I don't understand you point.Basically anyone can be taught to fly an airplane. Let's not delude ourselves, it's not rocket science. It doesn't require any particularly hard to find skills, unlike being an ATC for example, which requires a very special kind of person. Or a doctor or any other job which the average joe on the street could not do. Being a pilot is more about opportunity (luck, timing, how much money you have) than it is about being an exceptional person.
If anyone (or almost) can be taught to fly an airplane at a PPL level, not anyone can be a captain. It requires special skills, knowledge and EXPERIENCE. The selection won' t be done at the PPL level, but during the career, interview, sim eval. If you are the average joe you won' t make it at the Cathay interview. Or the Jazz, or Air Canada one.
I have seen students, friends, colleague giving up or failing at all the levels ( PPL, CPL, IFR (I have seen three pilot not able to get a IFR PPC), interview, Sim). I know pilots with a CPL who sadely will never make it as a turbine captain. A pilot is no more or less an exceptional person than a doctor, that' s just a different job. Don' t compare a student and an experienced captain who has been through all the selection process of the career.
Concerning the pay, I think this is fair enough to have a pay difference between a navajo "copilot" and a wide body captain. The first one is still a student, the other one is an accomplished pilot. The pay cannot be the same.
Pilot with exeptional skills, experience and knowledge are paid well. From the time a lawyer or a doctor enter the university to the time they start to make real money there is maybe 10 years (usually more).
What is your pilot income after 8 years of successfull career (because we are speaking about successfull doctors and lawyers here right? not the ones who are below average and make little money...). Now compare it with a doctor or a lawyer who began at the same time. I guess it will be around 80000$-100000$ as an average, with variation for sure.
So if you have done your CPL training within 7 month, and got a VFR job, yes you' ll get less than 1000$ a month. But how much a doctor or lawyer would earn after one year of university?
