You heard it here first! But seriously, Porter is spending a ton of cash developing the Porter brand. Free food, beer and wine, fancy uniforms, leather seats, etc is not required to sell the convenience of flying from the downtown airport.

I also believe if you think your word is so damn good, then you shouldn't have a problem signing the bond as you have nothing to worry about, 'cause you ain't going anywhere for "X" amount of time. The people that argue so hard against bonds are probably the first guys to jump ship.

I think a one year bond is a little more reasonable....especially now that Porter has proven not to be a training ground for AC or WJA, but a place people actually want to work.

...just gazing into the future for now...nothing (that I know of ) ordered past #20 for now, however since the business model is proving successful and last summer you couldn't buy a seat from YOW-YHZ with 3 flights/day and more on weekends going up against jets from both WJ and AC it proved the Q400 could compete head-to-head...once YTZ is saturated at 20 aircraft growth will have to be based off YTZ and there is no shortage of 90minute city pairs where the Q400 can compete successfully. As Valhalla says..building the brand. New $5million 200 pax ferry approved today for YTZ as well. Construction on new 10 gate terminal at YTZ progressing. New crew room will seat 40.

Are the ordered planes coming in? Are they still planning to hire people? I know some people interviewed in November and December and still didn't hear from them.

So if you're based in TO can you live somewhere else and just commute to work? Or do they want everyone living in TO? Could you live in Halifax for example, and commute to work the day before you start your rotation?

You can generally live wherever you want but there's little tolerance if you miss your shift because you couldn't get a seat or got wx'd or can't report within 2 hours when on reserve etc. There's more than a few who have joined waiting for more bases to open...nothing until 20 aircraft have been delivered at the earliest. If all goes well #18 will be delivered by xmas.

Min days off are 10 but unless you mess up your bid or only work splits and/or single "there and backs" you'll have around 15.
