Not to add to anyone's grief, however, seeing as how the business couldn't stop interviewing until the last moment, while keeping people who interviewed as far back as March in the "if you haven't heard from us, it might be OK" pattern, the promise of the next recruitment session is nothing but an empty nicety.

The whole letter reads as if it was lifted from HR.com templates and certainly sent out by a staffer who had no connection to the original interviews. Needless to say, pretty frustrated with the whole experience.

Best of luck to everybody pursuing -- which will surely turn out to be -- better opportunities!

Congrads Terminator !

I was PFOd earlier this week and I replied to their email asking, for self-improvement reasons, if there was anything I should do different next time around ... answer was :

Thank you for your interest in Porter Airlines.
Unfortunately, we can not disclose any information in regards to your interview.

Best Regards,

So Im still in the dark as to why I wasn't retained.
Oh well, best of luck to Porter and their new hires !

Moving on ...

Seems like they have scooped the highest experienced people while the economy is in the doldrums. I was told that even though they are still taking possession on new aircraft they have cut back routes by 30% , not sure how much truth there is to that though.
It would have been nice to have gotten a PFO in a couple weeks rather then months because i felt everything went really well, and seeing as i paid my way to meet them all the way from Vancouver to have them take people who did really quick phone interviews seems really against all the things they market themselves as.
Also in the email it said we will keep your resume on file for the next recruiting session, doesn't that mean for September?.. it's a little confusing? Anyone care to clarify this?

V1,

Sorry to hear that you didn't get hired but trust me no got hired based on a phone interview. The phone interview was just another layer added to the selection process used to filter people out. Avoiding wasting the company's and the individuals time and money.

Also wouldn't put too much faith in the cutting back of routes as far as I can tell its still full steam ahead.

DeltaHotel sorry to hear you were PFO'd as well. The reason they can't tell you why you were not selected is totally a legality thing. If they tell you you weren't hired because you didn't have enough PIC time or multi-time or whatever and then you were found out they hired someone with less than you had you would have grounds for a lawsuit. AC tells people the same thing. Don't be discouraged. Maybe you just had a bad day. Reapply you may be surprised!

Cheers

Hey guys,
I don’t work for Porter but I just wanted to add that a friend of mine got the PFO the other day as well. She’s got Dash time......and more importantly she has a set of breasts...still no dice!

Keep your chin up guys. There loss. They’ll be beating down your doors when things pick up and the pickings are slim.....

Cheers

At the interview, I learned that the next date was for Nov 8th. However, I just got an email for an Oct 19th course. Not sure if they've added an extra course or just bumped up the November one.

So hard to tell with those guys. I thought it went pretty well. They were concerned about how much time I had and whether I would be able sit right seat and wait for my turn. I have lots total time(6500tt) but no 12,500 time. So like everyone else its wait and see. Lots of good guys guys pfo'd though.
