Lets be clear. Just because prices are going to go up, doesn't mean the consumer is getting screwed. Right now they are getting artificially low fares due to both companies undercutting each other and operating at a loss in order to keep traffic. If they merged operations I doubt they would go and gouge the communities since ultimately the communities own the airlines. I think you have the wrong reception of the competition bureau. If these companies prove which they will the routes they compete on are losing money they will NOT block this. I say it will go ahead as the competition bureau focus is unfair competition. They are not there to police if consumers are getting screwed.
