PFOs
So, for those guys that got the PFOs...have we figured out if there are 2 types of PFOs? I got the "may be reconsidered in 6 months" letter the first week of September. Is there a reapply letter out there? Does anyone know if there is a difference?

The first wait is finally over. Interviewed mid August, just got the "competive candidate" letter 9 weeks later. What a relief. Now more waiting... but it's a good wait.
Thanks to everyone who has been posting their application exeriences with Air Canada. It has made the wait easier and more informed about what to expect! I'll keep everyone posted as to how my experience progresses.
Pinkus, when is your course date? Are they hiring for the new year yet? Thanks for the tip on getting the medical done ASAP.

I got the competive candidate letter and I haven't had my references checked yet. The "competive candidate" letter says that as positions become available they will call you in for your pre employement medical, and they will do a reference check and review your file. If they still deem you a competive candidate then you will be offered a course date.

The competive candidate letter means that that if you respond to it and say that you are still interested, then in a couple of weeks they will send an email inviting you to come in and do your pre-employement medical. I think the sooner you can book your medical the better. Which means.... STOP DRINKING NOW!!! Seriously, I just got caught with the "elevated liver enzymes" from the liver function test. I then had to go to my doc and get another LFT (liver function test), AND an ultrasound of my liver. Turns out the enzymes came back to normal and that I had a slighty fatty liver (which the doc says most people have). All in all it delayed me a few weeks and caused me a lot of stress, but I know that I've passed now. Was it alcohol that caused it??? Who knows. I stopped drinking 1.5 weeks before my test. I'm not a daily boozer, but I know how to have excessive fun now and then.
So, to try and make sure your liver enzymes are good, don't drink another drop until you know you've passed your medical. And other threads have talked about taking milk thistle. Oh and another thing... be completly honest with any type of medication you have taken in the past year. I have heard that if they find anything in your blood you didn't claim, then they will PFO with no reason given.
If you then pass your medical, they do what they say in the letter. Check your references and do a file review. If you are still deemed a "competitive candidate" then they will offer you a course date.
Congrats and good luck!

Going though the courses in the next couple months will be a lot I believe from Jazz coming off their two year freezes, along with taking guys from the pool.
Competitive candidate means your overall score having completed the interview process will be placed in the pool and depending on your standing will be called for a course date pending a successful completion of the medical.
