From wiki
B= two seats
A= one seatOriginally Ordered 138: 98 CF-188A / 40 CF-188B. 15 CF-188A and 2 CF-188B have crashed since 1984, never during combat, killing a total of 7 pilots. 1 CF-188A and 7 CF-188B have been removed from operational service. Many of the crashed or retired aircraft are still used for parts as well as experimental and research purposes. Stationed at 3 Wing Bagotville and 4 Wing Cold Lake. Often referred to as "CF-18".

Re: Excellent photos
Interesting to see the stats! I'm assuming the removals were based on structural wear associated with the two seaters being involved in more training?old_man wrote:From wiki

Thanks for the comments everyone. I don't think I'll make it to Oshkosh this year, but surely planning to go within the next couple of years.

Re: Excellent photos
Citation landing 33, you have Flight Exec ramp, then a warehouse, then empty field, so taken from empty field (your above the fence line) looking East.

Wayne Gray's Citation 501SP (based Charlottetown) Aircraft at CYKZ this weekend (still there)!

Re: Excellent photos
^ It looks as though the long retired '40 something' year old F-28s in the background are clambering to see the 80 year old DC-3 that's still hard at work. I love it!

Liberated alllied POW's?
Regardless, being able to trace back a particular aircraft, or even better yet, being able to fly an aircraft of which you have a picture of in action 50, 60 or so plus years is a "thrill" to say the least. I often wish my "bird" could "talk"... *sigh*
All the best,
